Iyanna's POV
"Daddy is home!" Mera screamed. It was always a joy to see him walking up the meadows, holding a bottle of milk or a bag with goodies.
This time he had nothing but a long face when we caught up with him.
"Is everything ok papa?" Mera asked.
"Come girls, let's go into the house to talk with your mother" He said.
This was really unlike him to be this gloomy when he normally gets home. It has me really worried that something bad had happened while he was out today.
"Jimry, you're home early, I didn't expect you" My mom said as she wiped her hands into her apron so that she could greet him.
"Come have a seat around the dinner table, I have something I need to talk to you girls about" He said.
Mera and I fought for the spot beside our father but I evertually won when she missed her balance and hit the floor.
"Girls!" mother shouted.
"Leave them Elena, let them have their fun" He said to her.
"Well dinner is almost ready. Do you want to wait?" she asked him.
Mera and I now had found our respectable seat and for this once I allowed her to sit beside our father. My mom quickly checked on the pot and my dad sat with his head hanging down.
"Is everything ok Papa?" I asked him.
He lifted his head and manage a smile that faded quickly, "I'm afriad not my dear" He answered.
Now my concerns grew even more. My father was the type of man that will worry about just anything. It could be something on his farmland, issues with his workers or something simple as us catching a cold.
"What's is going with you Jimry, is it the farm again, are they stealing?" My mother asked as she took a seat opposite him.
"No, it's far greater than that" he answered.
"Then tell us what it is" Mera shouted.
"Child!" my mother fired back at her making Mera sank into her chair. I stuck my tongue out at her.
My father's eyes were fix on Mera and they became glossy.
"Jimry tell me what it is going on," said my mother.
"I'm sorry, I have failed my family" He begun.
"Failed us how?" asked my mother whose hands were trembling.
"I was out gambling with some men instead of just coming home from the farmland. I stopped at a bar and a bunch of fellas were there, one thing led to another, and I lost some money, tried to win it back and lost our farmland and this house" he said.
This was big, now I understood why he looked so broken.
The silence in the room, the tears running down my mother's face as she sat with her mouth wide open and the disappointment on my father's face was something I could not forget.
"What are we going to do?" Mera asked.
"It gets worse because I have to make a deal with Goffery Valant" he said.
That's when my mother rose to her feet, "Goffery! you were out gambling with Goffery Valant?" My mother shouted at my father.
"I'm sorry Elena, I should have stopped but I got way head of my self and now I brough shame up on my family and about to lose one my precious daughters" dad said.
