Iyanna's POV
Ira and I were in my room getting ready. People had already started to arrive and I felt a little nervous.
"I really thought that the brunch was set to be private."
"Please believe me, Valant's Manor has never had a private event, it's all extravagant."
I believed her...
Maybe Goffery was missing something and he was trying to fill that void by having people around all the time.
"I don't know if a country girl like me could ever get used to this lifestyle," I said. She pulled me down into a chair before the mirror and started spraying something all over my hair.
"What is that?"
"It's something that will help to keep your curls. Anyways, you will get used to it. If I can, then so can you."
"Ira you grew up in the city for most of your life. You don't even follow the Westborn or Dewland ways of living anymore."
I don't think I was capable of living like her.
"That was my father's upbringing, not my mother's. I got to choose my own path Iya and you can too. You can start over here and live a better life than what you had in Westborn."
"My family comes first, Ira, that's what my father taught me. I don't want to break their hearts," I said, she stopped before me and took my hand into hers.
"So you are going to break yours?"
"Ira I wasn't even supposed to be here—"
"But you are here and you fell in love with someone who fell in love with you too. Look around you Iyanna, this is all yours."
"Don't say that Ira, it doesn't seem right to me."
"I have only been here a few days and I know what is going on so if you want to be ignorant then go ahead but I know you see everything Iyanna."
I hated this conversation.
"I am just here for a matter of time, I will go back to Wishore and start my life the way i've always thought it to."
She got up and stood behind me, holding my head while looking at me through the mirror.
"If you believe that then I believe pigs from the barn will sprout wings and fly from here, the day you leave".
She knew she was leaving me feeling conflicted. My family deserves better than me adopting another culture and home behind their backs.
Before I make any move I will first have to speak with my father, he deserves the respect.
"Shall we go?"
"Sure, you look beautiful."
"You too." I said.
She took my hand into her arms like always and we made out to the Garden for brunch. It wasn't as crowded as I feared so I bent my mind on being sociable and having a good time.
Micas' POV
For a while I watched her mingling with everyone and all I could do was smile each time our eyes met.
At one point I got to steal a kiss which made her vowed to stay away from me for the remainder of the brunch.
"She is coming," Derman whispered to me and I turned to look.
I watched as she walked down the garden, her hair flowing behind her as she glided towards me sporting a smile.
"Valant," she whispered as she passed me and I winked at her. I caught myself smiling from ear to ear.
