Iyanna's POV
The kitchen was almost finished but was ready to use. I just had some minor work to do in the cooking area and then we are good to open fully. I kept myself busy because I didn't want to think about Micas.
After Ira and Derman left, I felt lonely. I had no one to talk to unless Tomas and Nova visited me at the kitchen. When I go back to the cottage I am always alone and sometimes I even fall asleep on the little balcony listening to the waves lashing against the rocks.
The day of the kitchen opening I had more help than I imagined.
"Luwart, thank you for staying back with me."
"It's no problem Iyanna, I know you can't use the stove so well so I don't mind at all, plus you pay me well," he said, flashing a boyish grin.
Well Goffery paid him well. He paid every one well. It was amazing to see what he was doing for Jerrin and his family also, even though I heard it was driving a wedge between him and Micas.
"I heard Micas is coming back today," Satte whispered to me. I didn't want to know but I was glad she said it.
"Oh, good for him."
He has been gone for a week or so, I might have lost count but I kept myself occupied so I won't think about it as much.
"Are you going to come by The Manor? Mr. Valant is having dinner."
"I don't think I will be able to come because I have a lot to do after serving meals plus I have to prepare for tomorrow. Could you pass me the cauliflower please?"
She handed it to me and I moved and she moved with me. "Iyanna you have people to do the cleaning and Mrs. Manelle will prep for—"
"Satte where did he go? You have mentioned everything else apart from where he actually went. Tell me."
"Iya.. It's not.." she stuttered.
I heard where he went or maybe my mind was playing tricks on me and I was assuming. However, she knows.
"You aren't able to tell me, cool. Stop talking to me please and help me with lunch."
"Sorry, I just thought it would be nice to come to dinner with us, it's been a while and you must be lonely up here sometimes."
And you never once came to stay with me. What was her motive here? She was only pissing me off right now.
"Satte, I am sorry but I don't want to have dinner with the Valants," I snapped at her. I took the cauliflower and started cutting it and almost sliced my finger off.
"Gapers!" I screamed. Both Luwart and Satte rushed to my aid. Blood was springing from my hand.
"Here, pressed on to it to stop the bleeding," Luwarts said, placing a small kitchen towel over the wound.
"It's bleeding hard, I hate the sight of blood."
"It's ok Iyannna, just keep some pressure on it."
Mrs. Manelle and Tomas walked into the kitchen. Tomas fell to my feet and Mrs. Manelle dropped the items she had in her hand.
"Iya, what happened?"
"I cut my hand Mrs. Manelle."
She gently removed the towel to reveal the cut. "That's a nasty one. Tomas please run to the house and get my kit, you can't leave this open."
"Ok, mama," he said then scampered out the kitchen.
"Well for now I can wrap it up because I need to get back to work."
