Chapter 27 - Prior Engagements

Micas' POV

What was I doing? Too much shit was going on in my head for me to be doing this right now and surely it wasn't fair to create more confusion for anyone.

"Stop, I can't do this," I said, then pushed from me as I rolled off the couch.

"Micas, what's wrong?"

"Everything is wrong right now Leena and I can't have you in the middle of it so I suggest that we don't do this, not right now."

She joined me on the floor where I fell, "When has anything been perfect Micas?"

Never but this time it was different, this time more innocent people were involved and weren't deserving of this on going train wreck.

"It's not about things being perfect Leena, this is about creating more damage than needed."

I got up from the floor and she got up with me.

"Talk to me, tell me why us being together will create damages now as opposed to other times."

I was putting my shoes on and fighting with my pants.

"Lee, I'm really sorry but it's clear now that I shouldn't have come here." I started to walk away and she pulled me back.

"It's about the girl right?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Her name is Iyanna and she is the reason why you and Jerrin had a fight. She is the reason why you are refusing me?"

"Wait, who tol—?"

"Nova told me."

Manellle and his sibling seemed to alway find a way to disrupt my life.

"I told you not to tell anyone that I was here, Leena. I have to go."

"Micas stop! I didn't tell her you were here."

"I'm still leaving."

"Where to, Micas? It's late and you won't be able to get a car service at this hour."

"I will walk then," I said, not even sure if I would be able to walk but I knew I had to leave.

"You are being ridiculous, all this over some girl you barely know? It's dark and cold out there."

"How do you know I barely know her?"

I did not want to go here especially with Leena and especially not tonight.

"So you are defending her?"

"I am not deafening anyone but you are here making assumptions about things you don't know." My voice got a little louder than I wanted it to.

"Then tell me something I should know then Micas. Who is this girl that caused a fight between you and Jerrin."

"She is not the reason for the fight. Jerrin ran his mouth and I handled him accordingly."

"You never fought for me or because of me, Micas. So what is it about her that made you want to fight your best friend of many years?"

"Like I said, she is not the reason for the fight, he is not my best friend and I am leaving."

"If you leave I am leaving with you."

I turned back to face her as she said that. "Why now? I was here with you months ago and I begged you to come back with me, asked you to marry me and on the day of what was supposed to be our wedding day, you changed your mind."
