IN THE DARKEST NIGHT, A SINGLE STAR CAN IGNITE THE SPARK OF HOPE.

UMMA

Gloom engulfed the room, casting its suffocating veil over every corner. Tears welled up in my eyes, tracing a path down my cheeks. The weight of sadness settled upon my heart, crushing my spirit with its relentless grip, leaving me feeling hollow and lost in a sea of sorrows.

After leaving them in the parlor, I ran as fast as my legs could take me to my room, I made sure to lock the room with key and then crashed on the bed.

How could Aisha do this to me, how on earth do they think I'll accept this proposal, Never!!!. I almost shouted.

As the rain poured relentlessly outside, mirroring the tears that streamed down my face. My once vibrant soul now lay shattered, consumed by a pervasive sadness that suffused my every breath, coloring the world in shades of desolation.

I started gasping for air, I tried her to catch my breath but I failed woefully, I tried to stand to get my inhalers, it's been long since I felt this pain. I didn't know where to start looking for it, the last time I used it was like three months ago.

I started praying for someone to come in but I remembered I locked the room with key.

My head seemed blocked and my brain froze.

I saw my phone close to me and I managed to call the person that my hand landed on.

It was Aisha.

She picked up at the first ring and started pleading me, but when she heard I was gasping for air, she quickly asked.

"Is it your asthma again?" Aisha, Maryam's mother asked.

How does she expect me to answer her, as I continued coughing, beating my chest very hard.

"I'm on my way" I heard her when she said.

"Don't hang-up the phone Maimuna, we are coming". She added.

"Break the door" Abbi ordered.

"No, there's another key to the room, let's try it" Ummi answered.

The door proved stubborn as the key refused to work, for it to open the door but it ended up spoiling it.

"I said break the door" Abbi shouted this time around.

Maryam and I quickly ran to the kitchen to get a pestel or anything hard.

There was a hammer in a kitchen cabinet, Maryam took the hammer and I carried the pestle.

Ya Yusuf and Abbi broke the door and we found umma laying hopelessly on the floor.

We took umma to the hospital as she had fainted before we reach her room.

"Call the doctor on duty, NOW!". Abbi shouted to the nurse that was looking at us as if she has not seen a patient with us.

She was shocked as how Abbi behaved because he never looked like a lousy person.

She rushed to the doctor's office immediately and he trailed behind her in less than five seconds.

"Get the patient inside" the doctor ordered.

Two nurses came and collected umma and took her to the nearest patient room.

"My dear calm down, she'll be okay inshallah" Ummi said trying to console her husband.
