17 SEPTEMBER 2023

IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN BE ANYTHING, CHOOSE TO BE KIND, FOR KINDNESS IS THE LANGUAGE OF THE SOUL

I woke up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for my husband. I prepared plantain, fried potatoes, and yam, garnished with egg sauce and tea.

It's been two weeks since I was taken to my matrimonial home.

Yusuf came out all dressed up in a long-sleeve T-shirt and jeans,  and his lab coat neatly folded on his forearm.

I smiled at him and did the same.

"Good Morning Dear," I greeted.

"Morning My love, How are you," He asked.

"I am good Alhamdulillah," I simply answered.

He sat down at the dining table as I served him the food.

As we were eating and chitchatting, he finished eating and then we bid goodbyes, then left for work.

"Assalamualaikum," Maryam said while opening the door to my sitting room.

"Wa'alaikums salam," I answered as I was sitting comfortably on a couch with a remote control in my hand.

"Aren't you happy to see me?" She asked feigned hurt.

"Of course, I am happy to see you, I was thinking of visiting you later," I lied.

"I know that was exactly what you would say," She replied.

"Yes, because that's the truth," I answered.

"I've heard, you can't even offer your guest a seat talkless of refreshments," Maryam said.

"Who is the guest here? This is also your house, You know every angle in this house girl, so go get what you want," I replied trying to get to her nerve.

"Is this how you treat my brother? You're not nice," She sat on the couch I was sitting on, keeping her phone between us.

"What can I offer you? Mrs Fu'ad," I saw she was getting angry so I asked politely.

"I was angry,  but as you mention that name you've bailed yourself," She smiled and blushed.

"Let me get you something delicious, I know you missed my cooking," I teased.

"Of course, I hope it's plenty because I am going with it, girl I am not in the mood for cooking today," She said.

"Don't worry, you can go with it but you have to eat some here and tell me how it tastes," I said.

"Alright, whatever you say," She replied.

It was as early as 6 a.m., it was the weekend and we were still sleeping. Yusuf's phone rang as someone was calling.

"Wa'alaikums salam," He answered, with his eyes still closed.

"We found him," The guy who I assume is Detective Ridwan said.
