I swear by the bioluminescent planktons... he was the most annoying person I've ever met, and possibly ever to meet! And I'm only 12 right now.

"That's soooo boring! Forests aren't for conserving! it's for using their resources!" The male who sat in the front row said, interrupting my presentation for the fifth time.

Lee Minho. That was his name. Born to a family that runs car companies, he was the richest kid in our grade but also the most uptight and annoying.

I swore, if the teacher weren't there every time he annoyed me, I would personally feed him some (poison) ivy; the good part? he'd actually eat it. That's how much attention he pays in biology classes.

"Lee, for the fifth time. Let Hyeji continue with her presentation" Our homeroom teacher, Mrs.Bella said, sending a look to Minho who just rolled his eyes and mumbled something quietly.

I let out a little sigh, calming myself and pushing my intrusive thoughts about throwing a certain someone into a poison Ivy bush to the back of my head and focussing back on my presentation.

I started again, explaining about the importance of nature, the animals, the habitats, forests... until I was yet again rudely interrupted by none other than that annoying little brat who just yawned like a dying gorilla.

It had always been like this. Always.

Ever since I met him in 1st grade, we were on two alternating universes.

It was my first day in primary school. The first day!

I was in the playground with all the other little maniacs when I noticed a little daisy plant just growing near the swings. I made all my friends to be careful around it and taught them a little of what knew about the flower- and guess who let out his dying gorilla yawn before stomping his way to the poor daisy?

That's right. Lee Min fucking ho.

He didn't care about nature as I did.

To him, it was a mine, and he only wanted the riches from it.

It was so annoying.

I was so glad we parted ways at the end of high school. Good riddance. I thought I'd never see his face again. And finally, when I started courses, I met more people like me; people who loved and cared for the environment.

We did projects together, we learned together, and we educated our country, together. We succeeded in stopping many companies from harming our natural sanctuaries and everything was going great...

Until the Lee corporate was introduced.

An oil company.

Run by none other than Lee Minho.

One year into starting that business of his, he became one of the most successful people in the country, as well as a billionaire; and I thought I wouldn't have to cross paths with him!

Fate really loves testing me...

If I have to name a girl I couldn't stand, it'd be Yang Hyeji.

It was just everything about her; her constant nagging since primary school about how to treat the environment well and some shit while I've grown up in riches for using the precious minerals and recourses to make something called... money.

So what if some trees are cut down? that's money.

So what if some caRBOnDiOXidE is released? My family's factory serves the entire country.

And so what if I am a CEO of an oil company? Every drop of oil is worth a dime, and I am now one of the richest men in the country. I am successful.

I don't get why they protest against what I do.

Don't they know I literally help in curing world hunger with my money? A sacrifice from the nature is worth saving humanity, is it not? Why can't they just get that?

When I finally parted ways with her in high school, I'm telling you, I had never been happier. There was no one else annoying me about some conserving the environment shit.

I met more people like me. More people who wanted to be successful, like me.

People with actual brains.

We didn't look for the corals or some fish in the reefs, we searched for pearls.

We didn't study some rare species of bats in caves, we studied how to dig coal and gold mines.

We didn't learn about some minerals present on the surface of the earth, we learned to look below the soil, below the crust, and the oil present underneath.

We saw profit.

We sought success.

I sought success.

Some people just can't handle a man being successful... can they?
