I glanced at the girl as I walked beside her. Her eyes were downcast, her face lifeless. I could still see the tear stains on her cheeks as she looked down, deep in her thoughts.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought her there. But, eventually, she would've found out anyway.

I was carrying a box of food supplies and medication that I managed to find in the wreckage. The cargo of the osprey would've had much more, but I figured all of that had been thrown into the ocean when it crashed.

I glanced at Hyeji once more and a small sigh left my lips as I took a step closer to her as I walked. I gently nudged her shoulder with mine.

She glanced at me immediately, pursing her lips together. "hm?" She asked. I looked at her, seeing that she was still thinking about what she saw earlier.

I couldn't blame her for that... but this wasn't the time to mourn; not when our own lives weren't promised to be saved. There was hope... not promise.

I halted in my step and sighed before giving her the box I held. She raised an eyebrow, taking the slightly heavy box- I was surprised she didn't show any signs of struggle while holding it.

"My arms are heavy now, It's your turn to carry it," I said, doing a little stretch as I watched her roll her eyes a bit and nod. Most of the girls I'd met would pout or whine about it at some point, but Hyeji managed to bring the box to our little cave without any complaints. Just silent walking. It almost bothered me.

I watched her as she set the box down, sighing softly before turning around and heading toward the wilderness again. I stepped in front of her, tilting my head at her softly. "Where are you going?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

She looked down, averting her gaze from mine. Her expression seemed almost unreadable now.

"I want to go there again... Maybe Iseul and Pan are there... maybe they are injured" She muttered, her voice slightly shaky as she then looked at me again.

My eyes widened slightly at the mention of the two names.

"Are they your friends?... Are they lovers by any chance?" I asked her, and my eyes slightly widened when she nodded slowly.

I sighed and looked away from her.

Should I tell her?

Should I be honest with her and tell her that I had seen two lifeless bodies of a man and woman, holding hands, washed up on the beach? Should I tell her that I had already buried them somewhere safe?

Would she hate me for not letting her see her friends one last time?

While that thought built its own little thunderstorm inside my head, she walked past me. After a moment, I flinched, realizing that she was going back there. I quickly turned around and before I knew it, I caught up to her and held her hand.

She turned around, her watery eyes looking at me with confusion and a hint of annoyance.

"Let me go... I need to go find them" She muttered, trying to get my grip off her wrist.

I shook my head slightly as I loosened my grip on her arm, but not enough for her to pull her hand away.

"They could be alive.. let me go find them," She said, and with those words, tears began streaming down her cheeks.

"They.. they are not" My voice came out shaky, and she froze for a moment before shaking her head quickly, denying what I had just said.

"No! no.. they are!" She said, taking her hand away from my now weak grip. She looked at me as my lips quivered, an overwhelming sadness washing over me as I spoke back.

"They are.. they couldn't have survived that crash!" I protested and she frowned, balling her fists before taking a step back. She looked right into my eyes as she spoke again. She was annoying me a little now.

"They could be! I survived! They could be alive too! how do you kn-"

"Because I saw them dead" The words blurted out from my mouth and she went silent immediately. "I saw their fucking dead bodies washed up on the beach! I buried them already! You can't find them alive!"

After the words left my mouth, I looked away from her. The girl stepped toward me, and her trembling hands reached for my shirt. She grabbed the front of it, gripping it slightly as she looked up at me with tear-filled eyes.

She tried to shake me, as if out of anger and sadness, but all she could do was look at me until I looked at her.

"Why?" Her voice was barely audible. "Why didn't you show them to me?" She asked, her voice shaky. I sighed and looked away once more before answering her.

"I didn't want you crying or panicking anymore... okay?" I muttered, my voice softer than usual.

She furrowed her eyebrows and looked at me, confused. "huh-" the small sound left her lips as she loosened her grip on my shirt.

"I did that because..." I turned my gaze to look at her. My gaze softened, and even I was confused with this sudden feeling that came over me. I raised my hand and gently held her cheek as I looked down at her.
"Because I care... about you. okay? Because I was scared how you would've reacted..if you saw.." The words came on their own as if there was no reason to hold back from saying that- but why? Wasn't she my enemy? Wasn't she the person I always hated? Do I... care about her now?

Well... maybe I do.
