"Noona... I know you're worried about that tree being cut down, but please, spare me my life!" I momentarily glanced at my seventeen-year-old brother who hugged onto his school bag for dear life.

His eyes got wide whenever a fast-moving vehicle passed by us- well, they weren't the ones who were fast-moving- We were.

"I'm sorry Innie, but I need to get there in time for the protest!" I said, gripping tight on the steering wheel before turning the car in a sharp turn. My brother let out a high-pitched screech in surprise.

It was his fault for asking me to come to pick him up after school while I clearly told him I would speed-drive to the protest.

I'm sorry Jeongin, but you've been warned. it was your fault for allowing me the privilege to have your life on the edge.

I drove all the way to the old central park and halted the car abruptly, almost making Jeongin and I slam into the controls in front of us, though our seatbelts prevented that.

I turned my head to my younger brother, smiling at his panting figure.

He looked more traumatized than the first time I had taken him on a drive since I got my license.

"And that is why you must always wear seatbelts," I said, chuckling a little before ruffling his hair.

I then opened the car door before walking out and my eyes immediately fixes on a group of people protesting while they stood between some construction workers and the centuries-old sequoia tree.

I quickly made my way there into the small mass of the crowd, earning bored looks from the construction workers as they complained "Another one?" "Seriously?" "just let us do our job!"

Moments later, Jeongin also exit the car and made his way to us, standing beside me and joining the chant of the protest.

My little brother was like me; he saw what I did and I loved that he wouldn't pass a chance to help his sister do her work.

"Listen you guys, we have strict orders to cut down the tree by nightfall! Now please, move away" One of the construction workers said. He was starting to lose his cool, and so were his colleagues.

We protestors didn't budge though.

Just because they had some orders to chop down the only sequoia tree in the city, which had stood mighty for almost 143 years, might I add, we're just going to let them?

No! That ain't happening! Not on my watch!

"You can't cut this tree down! It's been here for decades!" I yell at the workers who looked at each other and sighed. The protestors' voices layered over mine as they hyped me up with "Yeah!"s.
