I sighed as I walked through the forest which kept getting darker and darker the more I walked into it. After a bit of walking, I paused in my step when I felt my eyes catching a glimpse of something in the trees ahead.
Out of curiosity, I crouched down and slowly edged closer until I could clearly see what it was. But when I saw his tensed figure, eyes wide staring into his leg, I rolled my eyes, getting up from my position.
I raised an eyebrow when I notice him being extremely still and then, my lips formed a smirk, my mind already coming up with what to say.
"So, did that rescue copter come?" I asked in a triumphant voice and I noticed how his jaw clenched ever so slightly. Normally he'd look at me with flames in his eyes when I said something like this- but he seemed to be a little too focussed on his leg,
I furrowed my eyebrows and followed his gaze and my eyes widen when I saw what was gently laying on his knee, its head resting on his thigh. A black mamba."That a friend of yours?" I asked with a light chuckle as I looked around to find a stick that was long enough to reach the branch he was on.
I heard a low grumble come from Minho and when I turned back, his gaze was on me, glaring holes into my own. I chuckled a little at how vulnerable he was. I wondered if he knew that the word tenth deadliest snake was the one that was casually laying on his leg.
"You know, I love it when you're this quiet," I said to test his patience and I noticed how he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling slowly before he opened his eyes to bravely mutter something, but no voice coming out.He closed his mouth the moment he felt he venomous snake slither up his thigh and I noticed how his hands were stoned as they held the branch he was laying on. He even trembled a little.
I've never seen him this scared; it was quiet... amusing really.
I shook my head a bit before stepping closer to the branch he was on, attempting to throw off the snake using the stick I held. As I got closer to it, the snake stopped its way right on his chest and lifted its head up, attempting to bite the stick.I noticed how Minho's face went pale when he saw its fangs that dripped poison. The snake attempted to attack the stick but after a second it proceeded to crawl higher, right onto his shoulder and the boy's knees began shaking in fear.
"Fuck.. Minho stay still, don't talk!" I said, going closer to the branch he was on and poking the snake's underbelly, making it hiss loudly and bite at the stick again.Surprisingly, Minho did as I told and he stayed still, not even making a single noise. The snake didn't attack and finally, after a while of trying, it bit onto the stick and I was able to throw it down on the forest floor with the stick.
I sighed in relief and looked up at the boy whose skin looked pale. He looked down at me, releasing a huge breath.
"Took you long enough" He muttered and I scoffed. I pointed my index finger at him and was about to say something when I heard the rattling of leaves on the other end of the stick that was at my feet.
Our eyes are dark to it and we noticed how the leaves ruffled along a straight path right toward my feet in a quick pace.
"Shit!" I cursed, looking up at Minho and I noticed how he had suddenly shifted his expression to a more alert one, grabbing onto the branch with one hand while he leaned down to give me the other one.Without sparing a second, I jumped, grabbing onto his hand and a small yelp escaped my lips when he pulled me up with ease. Right at that very moment, the mamba that I threw onto the ground leaped up at my feet, barely missing it.
I sighed, looking down at the snake that crashed back down on the dead leaves and then slithered away to another tree. My heart was pounding and I looked at the male that held me close to him.
His gaze was fixed on the ground and I noticed how a few strands of his silky straight hair fell onto his forehead. He then turned to me, looking me in the eyes as he placed me down on the branch he was on.
He let go of me gently and I saw how his lips formed a slight smirk.
"There, now we're even," He said. I blinked a little in response, taking another deep breath before looking away. I nodded a little.I always found Minho annoying. But for once, he didn't do something as annoying. Never thought I'd be saved by him from a life-threatening situation. He was my enemy after all.
"Yeah.. thank you" I muttered quietly, though I was genuinely thankful that he saved me back there like how I had done for him.
