I woke up to the sensation of something crawling on my palms. I could feel it move against my skin.
The first thought that came to my mind was that it was a snake and I jumped a bit, still half asleep. Since I wasn't quite awake, the sudden movement I brought to my body wasn't easy to control and I found myself on the floor like a fallen log a few seconds after, my face buried into the sand.
I picked up my head, groaning as I wiped away the sand particles stuck to my face. I opened my eyes carefully; I didn't want my poor eyes to be stabbed by the cold sand particles.
I let out a small sigh, sitting up straight once more before looking at where I was sleeping moments ago. There was a fairly big hermit crab there and it made my skin crawl a bit.
That claw of it looked like it could tear a finger off. I seriously couldn't believe I had slept on the ground while things like that were roaming around. But then again, I don't exactly have a choice. Where can I even go?
I let out another small sigh before glancing at the girl who was a few feet away. She was all curled up- sleeping on the ground like I did. She was sleeping peacefully... time to wake her up now.
I leaned closer to her, reaching to tap her shoulders but then I stop and look at the hermit. A small devious grin makes its way to my lips.
It would be funny to see how she reacts- she would probably scream- or even beg me to get it off her.
But the question is... how do I pick up that thing and put it on her? I mean, why would I touch something as gross and weird looking as a hermit crab?
I thought for a moment, but then, einstein's lightbulb lit up in my mind and my eyes darted toward a dry leaf next to me. Picking it up, I walked to the hermit crab that had almost made its way out of the small cave we were in.
I saw how it quickly hid in its shell once I was close enough. It feared me. As it should.
"Come here you," I said under my breath, crouching down, and attempting to grab the crab using the dry leaf. I then picked it up, turning around and smirking at Hyeji who was still asleep.
It won't bite her- it would just give her an unpleasant feeling of something crawling on her when she wakes up. I mean, I woke up to it! It's only fair she gets to experience it too.I took a few steps toward her, still holding the crab, but right as I crouched down next to her to put it on her body, I felt a sharp, painful pinch at my thumb on the hand which held the small animal.
"Ahh!" I screamed, throwing the crab away, and winced as I saw my thumb bleeding.
The girl also woke up- not because of the crab- but because I literally just screamed in her ear. I turned to her, seeing how her eyes were all wide in shock and how her eyebrows immediately furrowed.
"Why do you keep doing that!?" She hissed, brushing off some sand off her body as she sat up on the ground and looked at me, crossing her arms.I scoffed, holding my hand on my injured thumb as I looked back at her. "Doing what?" I asked. What was she talking about now?
She rolled her eyes; that sassiness was annoying, I tell you."Why do you keep waking me up in weird ways?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at me as she stood up. I looked at her and shrug.
Now what am I supposed to say to that?
"Where's the fun in being normal?" I asked, dodging her question and she blinked at me. She stared at me like a confused cat before standing up and walking past me, out of the small cave and toward the forest.
I scoffed again, watching her.
Maybe I should've just let her sleep and gone to find a better shelter or a way to escape instead of waking her up.
I could've missed a rescue helicopter flying by while I was wasting my time getting my thumb bitten by a hermit while trying to wake up some annoying girl I ended up stranded on this island with.
But then again, my chances of survival are higher if she was around.
I turned my gaze toward the entrance of the cave and saw that her figure was barely visible now as she made her way into the forest.
I immediately ran out, running through the weeds and vines to catch up to her.
I may not like her company, but I certainly wouldn't want to be left alone in a place like this.
And no, I'm not running up to her because I am afraid that I might come across a weird bug that could potentially kill me- I just thought that maybe she'd be safer with my company too. Yeah, that is exactly why.
She's just a clumsy girl- it'd only be a few minutes before I need to step up to be a hero anyway, so why not be by her side to have a good laugh when it happens?
"Hyeji! wait up!" I said, running to her, and as I pushed away a vine, I ended up getting a thick cobweb stuck to my arm and the spider on it scared my soul away. Why does this happen? Why is this place infested with these... these bugs!!
Letting out a scream as I flapped my arm furiously, I ran faster than I ever had, and, well, accidentally bumped into her.
Okay fine. Maybe, Maybe, I am scared of these bugs.
