3rd person POV:
Luz stood outside her and her mother, Camila's house, awaiting the bus to take her to that dreadful summer camp
"Lighten up, mija!" Camila said from behind her "I'm sure you'll find some good friends there"
"I suppose you're right..." Luz muttered, sadly
"Well, I have to head off to work now. Te amo. Te veo en unos meses!" She said walking off
Luz remained silent, and little did Camila know, but that was the last time she'd ever be able to see that sparkle of joy and light in Luz's eyes
An owl landed on Luz's shoulder and picked at her hair
"Huh? Oh hey, little buddy! Aren't you supposed to be asleep at this time of day?" Luz asked, but only got a hoot in response. Before she could do anything more, the bus arrived. She took in a deep breath
"Wish me luck" she said to the adorable owl, and climbed on the bus
--------------------------------------------------
The camp had changed her. And not for the good. She let go of her Good Azura fantasy (more like forced off). She became taller, stronger, tougher and more intimidating. She was more liked around school now that she didn't act like a weirdo [the one we all love], and even though she was holding in a lot of pain from that camp, she was still kind to others, but not as kind as she used to be. She was more reserved, quiet, and slightly more rude towards others. She let her bangs grow out, and preferred the outfit of a red beanie, green jacket, striped purple and white shirt and black jeans (the cover basically(made by Evan Rio, btw)
Right now, she was sitting at her usual lunch table. She preferred to sit alone, but some of the "popular kids" say she's hot, and won't stop nagging her to go out with them
"Come on, Luz! Just be mine for one night, and you'll be more satisfied than ever!" Zander exclaimed
"Ugh, no. Go with me! I've seen how you work that guitar. I bet you could do the same wonders for me?" Sarah flirted
Luz remained silent, praying that the bell would ring soon. And it did
She made her way to class for the final period, which ended quickly, as she hoped and went home
Yesterday was her 17th birthday. That's right. 17th. 3 years since she was truly happy. 3 years since she was truly Luz. She had suspended that happy, cheerful, fantasy enveloped girl, that would always be kind to others and help no matter what
She was about to enter her house when a familiar owl landed on her shoulder
"Huh? What're you doing awake, fella? It's broad daylight..." She stopped, getting déjà vu "hey... You're that same owl I met 3 years ago, aren't you?"
It hooted in response, then flew off, as if he wanted her him
And she did. She chased him through the forest to an abandoned shack, with a glowing door. Luz was a bit nervous at first, but was confident she'd be able to take down any sort of threat on the other side, and stepped through
She walked through, into a red tent, filled with human items
She made her way to the front, to see a pale lady, with a wild silver mane and golden eyes
"Get your human candy!" The woman said. A few stopped by, buying a bit, but there was one that caught the woman's attention "Ah, Angus! What're you here for today?"
"For the last time, it's Augustus, Owl Lady. And I came to pick up that human magazine you had for me" Augustus said
"Ah yes, here you go!" The Owl Lady drew a circle making a golden ring appear, along with a magazine on kids braces. Luz gasped, and by her pointed ears twitching, she knew she was heard
