Chapter 8

Luz's POV:

I climbed out of bed, feeling more tired than usual, rubbing my eyes

Walking towards the lounge, I decided to look outside the window.

It was still night outside

"Great way to start a Sunday" I thought to myself

I sat on the couch and relaxed, humming the tune of the song we were making. Eventually, I switched on the crystal ball and started watching, putting the volume down so I didn't accidentally wake up Amity

Eventually, the sun started rising, and Amity came out her room, stretching her arms

"You're up early" I stated

"So are you" Amity replied

She sat down next to me and placed her head on my shoulder, watching on the crystal ball too. I placed my arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head

After a while, we heard a knock on the door

"Come in!" Amity shouted

The door opened to reveal a light green haired woman. There was a lighter section in her hair that made it look shiny

Amity immediately stood up and bowed

"Mother! What makes you come to my dorm at this time of the morning?" Amity asked respectively

That was her mother? She looked like a villain. Take a trash can, with the moldiest food inside, make it human-or witch- and turn it evil. Bam, her mother

"Can I not visit my dearest daughter? Who is this?" She asked

"Luz Noceda. Nice to meet you, ma'am" I stood up and held my hand out. She shook it

"Hmm, manners. I like that. Keep choosing good friends like this dear. And by the way, have you contacted your boyfriend yet?"

I felt my heart sink. Boyfriend?

"No, I have not. I was planning on visiting him during next weekend, however. I didn't want to interrupt my studies" Amity glanced at me, a look of pain on her face

"Very well. You've made the right choice choosing school over love.  Can you get me a glass of water, please?" Amity's mother asked

"Of course, mother" Amity said, immediately moving towards the kitchen

Her mother turned towards me and brought out a bag of Snails and a piece of paper

"You seem like a nice girl. Do me a favour, and make sure Amity chases after no boys. You'll get payed handsomely to do so monthly. Here's my number for emergencies" She said, handing me both items

I nodded "you can count on me, ma'am"

"Good" She said, just as Amity returned, handing her a perfectly made glass of water

Three blocks of ice, a slice of lemore (Boiling Isles lemon) inside and a slice on the outside, then a beautiful straw inside

"Here you go mother" Amity said, handing her mother the water

She took it, and drank it then handed it back and left, not even saying "thank you" or "goodbye"

Once she closed the door a, I waited a bit, then spoke up

"Alright, Blight, you have some explaining to do. What was that boyfriend she were talking about?"

"So, long story short, my parents, or my mom, forced me to date him" She stated, gripping her outfit
