The Broken Child (Lumity)

Chapter 11

3rd person POV:

Luz strode through the halls, not feeling much of anything. All her emotions had been set back to when she came back from that camp. Dull, emotionless, and a slight lingering pain

"Morning Luz!" Gus greeted. She waved at him and the group, not looking up from the ground. Her arm was still in a cast and her leg hurt a bit, but the twins had helped with the healing process

"You...okay?" Boscha asked

"I'm fine" Luz grumbled before walking off. She heard them mumble stuff about her health behind her but she chose to ignore it and continue onwards

She sighed as she sat down in abominations class. They had designated seats and she was placed next to Amity from the beginning, so it was kind of a problem. Amity came into the class not long after, sitting down too once the bell wrang

They didn't communicate at all during class, which Luz was thankful for, although Amity kept passing notes to the red haired witch, which made her kind of mad

Eventually, she couldn't take it much longer

"Sir?" She asked, raising her hand

"Yes, Ms Noceda?" The teacher asked

"Can I go to the bathroom? I'm not feeling the best" Luz lied, acting out some pain

"Of course. And hurry, I don't want you throwing up in the middle of the hall"

Luz nodded and got out her seat, purposely making sure to smack the note out of the red haired witches hand

"Oops" Luz said, glaring daggers at her, then walking out the door

She made her way over to the bathroom, lowered the toilet lid and sat down. She stayed in there until break, and then came out, making her way over to the lunch area

She saw the others sitting by a table already, but chose to sit somewhere else. She made her way over to the table where Cat,  Skara and Amelia sat and plonked herself down there

"Oh, hey Luz. What makes you sit here?" Skara asked in her usual enthusiastic voice

"Nothing. I just need a break from the others. Specifically Amity" Luz said leaning on her palm

"Huh? Did something happen between you two?" Cat asked

"Yeah... I... I caught her cheating on me..." Luz said, not believing the words that came out even though she witnessed it happen

Cat and Amelia gasped whilst Skara just had an angry glint in her eyes as Amity approached the table

"Hey, Luz? Can we talk?" She asked

"Stay away from Luz, Amity. Just when we thought you'd change, you go ahead and break another heart. I managed it when it was with other people, but not Luz. She's gone through too much and she was just starting to get better. So stay away from her" Skara glared at Amity

Luz was surprised. She didn't expect Skara to stand up for her. She just came here to get away from Amity

"No, no. It's fine, Skara. I appreciate you standing up for me, but I need to talk to her" Luz stated, standing up "let's just this over with" She placed her good hand in her pocket and made her way over to an old, empty classroom where they could talk

"What is it?" Luz asked, leaning on the board with her arms crossed

"Listen, Luz. Everything was a misunderstanding-" Amity started

"A misunderstanding, huh? Well please. Tell me how kissing another girl that looks nothing like me is a misunderstanding, because I'm confused" Luz said with a deadpan expression
