Chapter 24

Luz's POV:

It's been 3 days since I've gotten that power boost Belos gave Alador and I, and I've been plagued with nightmares since. I haven't told anyone yet. I didn't think they were connected. But my gut says otherwise

If I was correct, today was the day that I train with Eda and Alador to learn more about my powers. I was tired, but I had no choice. I made a promise to the Emperor and I planned to keep it

I sat up in bed, once again earlier than Amity. It was currently 3am on a Monday. I've been waking up earlier and earlier with each dream, unable to go back to sleep after. Nonetheless, I stood up and instead of making pancakes for Amity, I left. I was too sleep deprived to do anything. I'll probably just pick up an energy booster and something to eat from the vendors that are open as I make my way to Eda's

Without realizing it, my feet lifted off the ground as I left the Hexide dorms. I also realized I wasn't wearing shoes or a jacket, but my newfound powers give me a higher cold and heat tolerance than most witches, demons, or humans

Soon enough, I made it to The Owl House with an energy potion and scrambled griffin egg sandwich. I ate the sandwich in one bite, before chugging the potion. I felt more energized, yet still tired. It would have to do for now

As I approached the Owl House, Hooty woke up, immediately rushing towards me

"LUZ!" He screeched, his voice piercing my ears as he wrapped around me "HIIIIII"

"Hello, Hooty" I yawned trying to free one of my arms to cover my mouth "How are you doing?"

"I'M GOOD, HOOT!" He continued "I MADE A NEW FRIEND. WANNA SEE?"

Slightly interested, I responded "Sure. Where are they?"

Hooty opened his mouth to reveal a fly sitting on his tongue. It looked slightly scared, but it didn't dare fly away

"Oh...that's....interesting, bud" I stated, nervously smiling as I pat his head with my now free arm. He stuck his tongue back in his mouth as the fly dissappeared again

"YOU SEEM TIRED. WOULD YOU LIKE TO TAKE A NAP WITH ME, HOOT HOOT?" Hooty asked, morphing his neck/body into a bed as I slowly levitated onto it

"Sure Hooty. I'd love that" I said, drifting off to sleep for the first time in a while as I felt his head lay on my leg

~7 hours later~

I opened my eyes to the sound of snoring next to me. For once, I didn't have a nightmare. It was blank, but I didn't complain. I looked next to me, seeing Alador sleeping further down on the Hooty bed. King was the one snoring apparently as his head lay next to me

"Had enough beauty rest, kid?" I heard someone say next to me

"Huh? Oh, hey Eda. Um, what time is it?" I whispered, afraid to wake up King or Hooty

"10am. Your training was at 9, but you looked tired, so I let you sleep. Same with that older Blighty over there. The fur ball just dived onto...whatever Hooty morphed into this time and fell right asleep" Eda explained, doing her signature snort. She has a mug of apple blood in her hand

"Ah, I see" I yawned, climbing out of the Hooty bed. I did a small stretch before turning back to Eda. "What now?"

"Well, them up. Good luck. Especially with King" She stated, taking a sip of her apple blood as she did so

I sighed, knowing I wouldn't be able to escape this and drew an ice glyph, slapping it on each of them then pressing it, making a giant ice block appear on them and make them immediately shoot up. And in Hooty's case. Literally. He flew into the air with surprise
