The shift from dusk to night fall was slow, slower than usual. Diluc was with in your arms as you both rested on the couch, making pointless chit chat to the pass the time. Diluc was so careful with you, constantly asking every few minuets if you were hurting and saying sorry every time your face twisted in a weird emotion. Every time he asked to make sure you were fine, you had to reassure him every time that you were okay even if you were in a bit of pain. He was so riddled with caution and fear he didn't even want to turn if he was getting uncomfortable, to which you made sure to ask every so often if he wanted to move and getting a hard no out of him. He didn't want you out of his sight, fearing for the worst as you tried to take things slowly. You didn't even know how he would react once you were okay and out doing commissions again, you couldn't imagine how tense he would be every time you walked past the city gates and into the wild. Perhaps he had a fear of the unknown behind his stagnant face, which would explain lots of things actually. But those worries were for another day as you melted to the man who seemed to be so overprotective of you like a dog in this state. It warmed your heart knowing that Diluc would be watching over you.
You wanted to see what Diluc would allow you to do, as your hands started to play with the whispies in his hair, twirling them around your fingers ever so softly to not tug on his scalp. You felt his head shifting on your stomach, as he looked up to you to find out what the hell you were doing. You gave him a reassuring smile as he sunk back down sighing, letting you have free range on his hair. Your happiness was boiling over as you undid his ponytail and started to freely play with his strands of hair. His hair wasn't extremely curly, but wasn't paper straight either. It was perfect waves that was obviously well kept, as you almost lost your mind at how soft it was. You just kept running your hands though his hair, sometimes even twirling a section of hair if you wanted to. Every so often as you combed through his hair, you'd look down to see him. He looked like he was enjoying it, the harshness of his normal face lightening up as you played with the sides of his hair as well. He was stunning as you bathed in your own pride of finding something that could relax this man who was just so overworked and tired. Hell, you could even notice him growing tired in your arms. Half of you wanted to stay here forever, but sleeping on the couch would hurt in the morning with Diluc on you. Small turmoil aside, you lightly shook him to wake him up.
"You look tired," You whispered. "Come on, you can sleep with me tonight since you don't want to leave my side."
He nodded softly as he slowly got up, being careful to not hurt you. Your body felt stiff as you struggled to get yourself up, taking the hand of Diluc as he gently pulled you up, his hand resting on your hip to keep you balanced. The silence as you stood next to Diluc to keep your balance made your head do flips as his hand was unmoving from the same spot he first put it on. You could tell how much restraint he was using to make sure that you were fine as he held onto you carefully as you both wandered to your room. You already changed into your bed attire before Diluc came in, but he still wore the same outfit he normally did. Your good arm reached out to the edge of the bed as you used it to balance yourself as Diluc walked towards the bathroom to get out of his clothes. You hovered over the bed as the reality set in, you quite literally invited Diluc into your bed. In too much pain to fight with yourself, you carefully climbed into bed and grabbing the pillow before you put your head down and covered your face with it. To burn up on the spot would be a great thing for you considering what kind of secrets you both held together. You didn't even know what to call yourselves at this point as just being friends was long out the window.
You heard the familiar sound of the bathroom door open as you felt like you wanted to be shot in the foot for good measure. Diluc didn't say anything about you removing your head from under your pillow as you silently tried to keep your nerves down as well as trying to cope with the pain that was rising in your side. Diluc shot you a look of confusion as you rubbed your temples.
