Chapter 16 (Part 1)

Levi's POV

"Beep," "beeeeeeeep,"
My alarm blared telling me to get up. Today was going to be great. I had a "date" Reagan after school today at the Bean And Brews! I got up and showered quickly. I walked down the stairs and made myself a bowl of 'Rice Krispies' cereal. Once I was ready I went to see if Kristen was awake. I didn't want to bother Anna because she has her college classes today.

"Hey, you up?" I asked as I knocked on her bedroom door. "Hmmm, yeah, I am now," she hollered and I left to go back to my room. I sat on my bed and pulled out my phone.

"No new messages," the screen read. I was a little disappointed but I would see Reagan at school, right?

My phone buzzed and I picked it up quickly. Incoming call from.......

Nathan, I sighed and answered the phone.

"Hey, what's up?" I said into the phone.

"I have something to tell you, I'll do it when we get to school."

"Ok, guess what! I have a date with Reagan after school"

"Awesome bro, I got to go but I'll see you at school. Bye"

"Bye"

I hung up the phone and noticed the time 6:50, dang it if we don't leave now we're going to be late. "Kris, you ready to go?" I hollered. There was no response, "Kris you're going to be late if you don't leave now. If you don't answer me I'm coming in." Still no response.

I opened the door to see Kristen sitting limp against the wall, head in between her knees. I texted Trista and told her what was going on and that Kristen would be riding with me.

"Hey, can you hear me?" I asked noticing her beginning to stir.

"Hmmm, what time is it?" she asked looking up at me.

"6:55, we're going to be late if we don't get going right now. Can you walk?" I asked her. 

She shook her head and I slowly lifted her into my arms, mindful of her knee brace, and carried her bridal style to my car. I buckled her in carefully and drove to school as quickly as I could. Once we were there I got out and helped Kristen inside.

Once I made sure she was okay in the nurse's office for a bit I took my pass and went to class. I walked into Chem and sat down next to Nathan. "Hey, were supposed to be doing a project with our lab partners so..." He said pointing to the instructions on the board.

After class we had a study period, I was heading to the library when Nathan ran up to me. "Hey, since this is a 'free period,' can we talk?" He asked me. I was kind of worried that something had happened but I was also hoping he wasn't mad at me either.

"Of course, what is it?" I asked him as we ducked into a small room in the library. "Well I would've told you on the phone but I wanted to tell you in person. Like how you wouldn't break up with someone over text."

"You're not breaking up with me right?" I jokingly said to him and he shook his head.

"I-I-I love you..."
