Levi's POV
I was getting ready when I heard the sound of my phone ringing, it was Nathan. I hadn't seen him since that day at the park. The day he got hit by a car. The day his dad came back. The day he kissed me in the library.
The day everything went wrong.
He is the one to reach out, of course.
I'm too selfish to try and make up with my best friend, even when he was in the hospital.
I suddenly remembered my ringing phone and grabbed it quickly.
"Levi, finally. Don't say anything, just let me explain later, please? I'll come over later tonight and explain everything, I promise." He said quickly, not giving me anytime to speak.
"Oh, uh, okay, I'll see you then." I responded feeling surprised.
"Alright thanks, bye Levi."
"Wait, Nate, I'm sorry." I began to apologize.
"Forget it, I'll talk to you tonight." He cut me off, then hung up.
I was stunned for a moment and then realized I needed to get ready for school. The year has gone by so fast. It's almost summer, only a few more weeks left.
I've been dating Reagan for almost a month now. She's really nice, and we have a lot in common. I really like her too, last weekend we went to see a drive-in movie and it was pretty fun. I'd never been before but she said it would be really fun, and they happened to be doing one that Saturday night. Did I mention that I really like her? She does this thing where she bites her lip when she's thinking really hard about something. And when she smiles, all the other things in my mind disappear. All I can think is 'wow, I can't believe she's mine.'
I sighed as I rolled out of my bed, today was going to be long.
When I had eaten and was ready, I drove Kristen and I to school. I let her out in front of her entrance and then waved. She smiled and waved back.
I got to the student parking lot and then quickly found an open spot. I rushed to get to my locker before the bell rang. I peaked across the hall and saw Reagan struggling to open her locker. I snuck up on her from behind and put my hands over her eyes.
"Guess who?" I asked playfully waiting for a response.
"Hmm, Levi?" She acted confused and then laughed. Her laugh is so cute.
"Yes! Do you need help with that?" I asked pointing to her combination lock.
"Yes please!" She begged and whispered her combination to me.
"Alright," I said pulling the lock down and letting it open.
She looked to me in shock. "Wha—how?" She stuttered and I laughed. I shrugged smiling sheepishly.
"Mhm, go to class," she rolled her eyes and smiled back.
"You're so cute," I twisted a lock of her hair in between my fingers.
"I know," she replied and I pretended to be offended. "You're cute too," she said giggling, hugged me, and then ran off to class. I hurried away and sat in my seat right as the bell rang.
***
When school was over I picked up Kristen and brought her home.
"Anna, I'm meeting Reagan, I'll be back before dinner." I called and she replied with a quick okay.
I got in my car and drove the small distance to Reagan's house.
I slowly walked up the steps and knocked, waiting for the door to open.
