Emy's POV
It was almost time for Kristen and Trista to come over and I was hurrying to prepare everything. My diabetes was acting up today, I had a low while I was at school, but I'm fine now. I was worried something might happen to someone because with our luck it totally would. I collapsed against the couch to catch my breath. Right as I sat down the doorbell rang and I rushed to greet my friends.
Trista looked exhausted but Kristen was bouncing off the walls. "Welcome extinguished guests!" I squealed but covered my excitement by trying to sound professional.
"Thank you for inviting us madam, where should I place my coat?" Kristen asked and we both laughed. After the fun exchange, I led them to my bedroom.
"What should we watch, I made popcorn?" Trista nodded and we looked through our streaming channels.
"Let's watch Mean Girls!" Trista exclaimed and I turned it on.
The movie lasted for a little under 2 hours, when it finished we went downstairs for dinner. "My mom's made sandwiches and there are snacks back in my room," I announced to the girls and then we all began digging in. I'd already inserted the correct carbohydrates for the insulin to be delivered. The meal was covered and I could happily eat my food.
"Okay, we should play truth or dare," I said as we sat around my bedroom. The girls exchanged mischievous glances.
"I'm in," Kristen declared with a grin, her energy seemingly boundless. Trista nodded, ready to embrace the fun.

It was almost 10:00 when we finished playing games and began to wind down. Trista yawned which made me yawn, which made Kristen yawn. "You've created a cycle," I whined and we all erupted into laughter. When I stood up I felt dizzy, I made a quick to the bathroom and discovered I was a small bit low.
"Will someone pass me a juice from the mini-fridge?" I called out to the girls. Trista appeared in the doorway and cautiously handed it to me. I opened it with shaky fingers and began to drink. When I finished I felt much better.
"Ready for bed?" I asked walking back into the room.
"Yes, I'm so tired!" Trista sighed and moved around in her sleeping bag.
"Goodnight guys," I called from my bed.
"Night," Trista and Kristen said in unison.
Trista's POV
I woke up and looked at my watch 3:00 AM. I slowly got up and went to the bathroom. My head was foggy and the room spun randomly. I sunk against the wall and checked the BP monitor on my wrist. 80/50, this was considered moderate hypotension which is why I felt so bad. Spots danced in my vision and I was so tired. I was just going to rest for a bit, that sounds like a good idea.

When I woke up again it was 5:00 AM, way to early to be awake. Luckily I was able to sneak back into my sleeping bag before anyone noticed I was gone.
After a few hours Emy's mom came in an woke everyone up. Emy rolled over and groaned before finally getting up. I followed everyone silently to the kitchen. I ate the breakfast and thanked Emy's mom. I went upstairs and changed into my school outfit. I'd picked leggings and a light blue button up cardigan to wear. When I was finished I trudged down the stairs and sat in Emy's living room.
"Ready for school girls?" Emy's mom called, searching to find each of us. We all left at the same time, including Emy's older sister.
School was as boring as usual, the occasional fun class(es) in between. I couldn't wait for the weekend to come along, even though there was a long week still going ahead of us.

Emy's POV
School had finally ended, Reagan went home with a few of her friends(she'd told me that but I knew what it really was, a date with Levi), Kristen's sister came to pick her up, and I was left to walk home by myself. I began the long walk towards our house. I was a few blocks away when I noticed a car following me. I slowly increased speed but the car slowed to a stop next to me, rolling down the window.
"Emerson?" A voice called, using my full name. I looked up and gasped.
"Dad! What're you doing here," I demanded. It's been almost 8 years. He looked slightly different, a little bit of a beard, but overall the same features.
"I came to see you, please come with me, I already talked to your mom," part of me wanted to scream and run away but part of me wanted to get in and see what he wanted. I was supposed to hate him for leaving but every bone in my body told me he might be good.
"Okay," I sighed and got in the car. I pulled out my phone, about to confirm with my mom when a hand snatched my phone away. The door locks clicked, I unlocked the lock and jiggled the handle but it must've had child lock on it. "What are you doing?" I mumbled in fear.
"I'm taking you with me, we're going somewhere. You're mom doesn't want you, trust me. You and your diabetes" he said making air quotes around the last word. "Your so expensive, everyone will be better without you." He said driving quickly down the road. I knew it wasn't true but tears slipped from my eyes. "Give me your bag," he demanded and I reluctantly did as I was told. When he handed it back to me he'd taken all of my diabetes stuff and all I had left was the insulin in my Omnipod, who knew how long that would last for.
"W-what are you going to d-do to me?" I asked him.
"That's for me to know and you to find out," he said smirking. He pulled into a driveway, applying a blind fold to my eyes. I was dragged inside by a strong arm which I assumed belonged to my dad.
I heard a chuckle and a few mumbled words before I was thrown down a set of stairs. When the footsteps were no longer near I took of the blindfold. My body was trembling out of fear, or the fact that my blood sugar was dropping. I heard a loud beeping noise that wouldn't stop.
Footsteps echoed down the stairs. "Make it stop!" He yelled thrusting my phone into my lap, monitoring my every move. I hurriedly checked my blood sugar and shut off the alarm.
"I need to raise my sugars, I could die," I told my 'father'.
He laughed "Liar! You'll be fine, give me the phone girl." He snatched it from my hand and went back upstairs.
I heard a lock click and that's when I knew I needed a plan. I scrambled to my feet despite the prominent dizzy feeling. There was a clock in the basement so I had a sense of time. I could see a bathroom and a fridge, the water in the bathroom worked but the fridge was empty and shut off. My blood sugar was dropping fast and I couldn't do anything about it. My body became shaky and week, my knees buckled and I couldn't get back up. "Someone, anyone, help!" I called hoping he would hear. I refused to call him my dad his name was Jack. "J-jack!" I screamed as loud as I could.
"What do you want you little twerp!" Jack yelled stomping down the steps.
"S-sugar, please, help me," I cried.
Is this where I die, freezing and alone in a basement.
He looked me up and down, maybe a change of heart. "What do you need?" He sighed, rolling his eyes.
"Like a juice box or something. There should've been one or two in my bag," I whispered.
After a few moments he handed me juice and left. I drank it slowly, my hands shaking vigorously. In a short amount of time I started to feel better but I knew this wasn't going to last. It was 5:00 and I was still stuck down here, alone. The clocked ticked over and over in a melodic rhythm and soon I fell asleep on the hard wood floors.
