Austin's POV
"Wanna go to Target?" I say "not really, but I need to get out" shrugging. Veronica, my only school friend, says "let's go then" grabbing my hand to drag me out to my car. I say "is this because you don't want to drive?" Veronica says "obviously. It's hot watching you drive anyway." She bites her lip and gets in the car.

I know she's into me, but I am not into her. I just carry on as usual until maybe I make a new friend. Something like that. I say "buckled?" She giggles and nods then I start driving. Veronica is my closest school friend, so we have a lot of fun but sometimes she makes me uncomfortable. Honestly, I don't have the nerve to say I'm not interested. I want her to bring it up because I think she'd be mad at me if I rejected her before she asked me out. Or maybe she wants me to ask her out.

Girls like that. I think.

"You're shaking, are you alright?" I say "probably just dehydrated. We're getting Starbucks when we get there, right?" Veronica says "uh. Obvi" and I say "I forgot to fill my water bottle this morning." Veronica says "I'd hardly call it a water bottle. It's more so a jug, babe." I chuckle saying "the bottle is 128 ounces and, in solid ounces anyway, is eight pounds." I hand her the plug in for CarPlay saying "play something good" and she plugs it in and plays What's Poppin by Jack Harlow. I chuckle saying "you read my mind."

I put my sunglasses on and drive, one hand on top of the steering wheel. Veronica says "you're so hot." I smile and I get to target in fifteen minutes when it should've taken me twenty minutes. I keep my windows down as I drive down the highway and I pull into the parking lot. Veronica says "let's go, babe." We go in and we get Starbucks. I get a water and we get refreshers too.

I say "I feel like such a queen with my Starbucks ice water." Veronica chuckles saying "is it good?" I say "it's water" shrugging and she chuckles. I say "what did you need?" She says "a gift for my brothers birthday and feminine hygiene products. I needed some help for his gift." Her brother and I have a past. She never knew about it and she never will. I had a little crush on him when we were younger. He was a junior when I was a sophomore and I pulled out my sophomore rizz.

In short, he'd sneak out at night and come to my house. It was a few one night stands and that was the end of it. I see him every now and again but I'm a senior and he's a freshman in college. He's not my thing anymore. He was there when I was questioning my bisexuality, so that's what I did. Veronica says "hey, you're thinking again" and I say "what we're you asking me?" She says "you should dance for my insta."

I chuckle saying "why?" I say "so I can show the people how cute you are." I roll my eyes saying "sure" and she plays the song saying "do you know this one?" I say "you really want me to do this one?" She says "you know it?!" I say "of course I do" chuckling and I do a dance for her Instagram. It's to Keep That N**** by Icandy and she's essentially asking me to throw it back for her Instagram.

She chuckles and I put my drinks on a shelf and she watches slightly on camera. She says "you ready?" I chuckle and I nod as the song starts and I just go for it. She chuckles and she posts it with the caption: can't believe I got him to do this. I like it and I put my phone away saying "let's go buy things." She chuckles and we start looking for the things she needs. She says "he's nineteen, I don't know what he'd want for his birthday?" I say "what's the budget?"

Veronica says "fifty bucks." I say "get him a fifty dollar gift card for Amazon." They barely talk, so it wouldn't hurt him a whole lot if she didn't get him something that meaningful. Veronica says "he's an adult, he needs the money." I chuckle and she wraps her arms around mine as we walk through Target. We buy everything she needs and says "I spend too much money on him." I say "it's fifty dollars a year, so?" She says "he doesn't even talk to me." I say "you don't talk to him either" shrugging and she says "are you taking his side with me right now?"

I say "no, I'm speaking the truth" rolling my eyes and we go out to my car, me carrying her bags. I put them in my backseat and she says "you're glad you're hot because you really piss me off sometimes. Oooo, we got a comment." I sigh saying "what does it say?" She says "it says: damn, I have no shame in sliding into those DMs. I'm gonna DM him." I'm the feature of the video, I think he's talking about me. I bite my lip and I put my sunglasses on then I start driving.

I go to her house and I say "ok, I have homework. I should probably go." She says "aw, I don't want you to go" frowning slightly. I say "I should go" and she hugs me then she goes into her house after grabbing her bags. I drink my water and my refresher as I drive home. I go in and I see I got a message on Facebook. I mumble "that never happens." I open Facebook Messages and I see a message from Veronica's brother, Shawn. He says:

Shawn: hey, I'm in town this weekend, should I come around?
Me: hey, it's been awhile since I've heard from u. Idk if you should though.
Shawn: I saw my sisters post on Instagram and you look so fine. I miss you.
Me: Shawn...
Me: text me when you get into town and I'll let you know then. I have to think.
Shawn: ok, honey, I understand...

I sigh and I go to do homework in my bedroom. I mumble "I knew he was going to text me."
