Austin's POV
I grab my bag for my dance class cause it'll be three hours. I need more than just my high tops for this one. I drive to my Vince's house. I roll down my window and honk my horn. He jogs out saying "my mom almost didn't let me leave" getting in and throwing his bag in the back seat. I say "damn" and I drive to the studio. When we're driving to the studio, it's always silent. Vince always feel the need to get in the zone and I don't mind the quiet. We do all the talking at the studio while we're doing our thing. As soon as we walk in the building, we sign in, then as soon as we get to our studio room, we talk.We sign in and we greet the receptionist then I say "we were going to use a room in an hour, do any of them have classes in an hour?" She says "you can have studio seven for how long?" I say "two hours." She says "you're all signed in" and we go to class. We drop our stuff in studio seven first then we go into class. Vince says "I saw that guy comment on Veronica's Instagram. Did you end up talking of him?" I say "a little late to the party, but It's a long story."
We sit on the floor and stretch and I say "she's a bitch. She thought he was talking about her when she was barely in the video. She talked to him for a day, him entertaining her. I know she's into me though but she jumped on it when she thought this guy was into her. Then she accuses me of wanting to use him to figure out my sexuality when she thinks, he likes her. Like, I don't have to be out to her. She just can't accuse me of something like that and expect me to stick around."
Vince says "why would she do that? That really sucks" and I say "let's get the shakes out" getting up. Vince and I do some isolations and just shake our bodies out while other people watch just kind of confused as to what we're doing. I say "what?" One of the guys say "what will it take to get in on a dance with you guys? Like a trio?" I say "a lot." Another guy says "I wish you guys still did ballet." I say "the teacher called me fat and I'm literally not, I'm built. I'm not skinny strong like she wants. I didn't like it that much anyway."
Vince says "too built for ballet, not built enough to lift with the athletes." I say "put that on a shirt" as Jacklyn walks in. The eight of us all go to our spots and she says "alright, let's get it. Be ready for your freestyle." I nod, jumping around in my spot cause I'm so hyped about this group dance. I'm never into the group dances and there always ends up being something wrong. We're a group of guys, things happen. Some of them seem to not give it their all then we fight and Jacklyn, our teacher, is a five foot two petite woman. Shes given up on trying to get everyone to stop fighting, sometimes it takes up majority of our class time.
That's why I'll never dance with these people, except Vince, unless I have to. Vince mumbles "my freestyle I choreographed is sexy as hell." I giggle saying "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" and the song starts. He smiles, shaking his head, and I do my thing to the song before I actually have to do the choreo. Welcome to hip hop, it's pretty relaxed. I was just told to keep my arms crossed at the beginning. I rock from front to back and shake my shoulders back on beat. When the beat drops, I jump cause I need some stylistic freedom and we go into doing our thing.
We go through the first minute of the song before we all go into our freestyles and I finally get to mine. I don't have mine planned whatsoever. Jacklyn always is saying I don't have to worry about my freestyle abilities and I got the best verse to freestyle to in this song. I get the first half and Vince gets the second half of Tory Lanez' verse in the Whats Poppin Remix. I do my freestyle, not thinking too much about it. I put a bit of a body roll in and my ass for sure makes a feature.
Im comfortable enough in my sexuality and masculinity that I can do this but the rest of the guys would never let it be choreographed by our sassy teacher. She has the sassiest and most feminine style that I've ever seen. She really puts in the work with us. She practically had to relearn hip hop to teach us. We redo the dance over and over again, my freestyle being very different every time. Then I get ready to go do my own choreography with Vince that we've been learning for the showcase and for a school talent show. We want to win that talent show.
We finish class and Jacklyn calls me over. She says "hey, I have overflow for the summer intensive, I was wondering if you wanted to teach a class. They do a showcase at the end of the month and I think it would be fun." I say "sure, what age group though?" She says "15-17. People from everywhere are coming for that age group."
I say "I can be here. Just send the details my way." Jacklyn says "awesome! Thank you so much! You did great today, I'll see y'all tomorrow." Vince and I go to our room we got reserved. I say "let's do what we had last night" and Vince says "damn, that is so good. We're so good at this." I say "but I'm stuck like this still." We laugh a lot harder at that joke than we should've.
Vince says "I've got it!" I say "what?" Vince says "push back on your butt, stay sitting. Then roll back then kip up?" I say "the Kip up wouldn't be on a beat drop and it would be strange. What if we roll up like this?" I bend my knees, plant my feet, and roll up like I'm coming out of a backbend. Then take a couple side steps toward downstage like we're in a Disney gang." Vince says "I love it."
