Austin's POV
A week later
"My mom was checking if you were coming to my graduation then the party after?" I say "Eric, of course I'll be there. I just got my car back. Are you coming to my graduation the day after?" Eric says "yes, I'll be there. My mom wanted your verbal proof cause she doesn't believe you're real." I laugh saying "put me on speaker with your mom, baby." He says "ok" with a smile in his voice. His mom says "Eric, I'll kill you if this is Jeffrey about to fart into the speaker." I laugh and Eric says "it happened just one time." She says "alright, let me here it."I say "I, Austin, Eric's boyfriend. He hasn't asked me out yet, I thought the hints were clear but guess not. Maybe you should talk to him. Anyway, I will be attending graduation and the party afterward if it is alright with you." I hear her chuckle then she says "I can't wait to meet you tomorrow and I will talk to my son for you" making me chuckle. I say "can't wait to meet you either, ma'am." She passes the phone over to Eric I'm guessing and he says "you are such a suck up." I giggle saying "that's my job. I suck up to your mom and I suck you off. See, we're all happy."
Eric says "this is why I like you so much" quietly and I say "you like me?" Eric chuckles saying "of course I do, baby. I like you so much that I am so nervous to ask you out officially. I pick up on every little thing you say to me, I'm always listening to you even if I look like I'm not paying attention. I'm just hyper focusing on the words you're saying instead of your voice. I know you like me or you wouldn't have talked to me for this long and I really like you cause god, I'd drop you like a bad habit if I didn't. I guess it's just hard for me."
I say "Eric, don't work yourself up over this. I consider us official, I'm not going anywhere, babe." Eric says "I miss you" and I say "mmm, I miss you too, baby. I'm glad you're coming down for graduation." He says "me too. I'll boo when Veronica walks just for you." I say "I don't think she's going to walk. I heard she's not graduating cause she got kicked out of school. She's kind in trouble with the law right now according to Aaron" and we chuckle.
He says "we're so mean" chuckling and I say "she deserves it for another couple weeks" quietly. Eric says "that's fair. I'm excited to see you tomorrow then." I say "I'm excited to see you too" smiling and he says "you're so hot." I smile then I say "god, you're so fine." I bite my lip and he says "I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow and I'll text you in a bit, ok?" I smile saying "ok. I'll see you tomorrow. Cant wait to see you, babe." I hear the smile in his voice when he says "can't wait to see you too, baby" then we hang up.
The next day
I wake up earlier than I usually would to drive to Portland, Maine. I put on gray slacks and a black button up and some high tops after I shower. I tuck my shirt in and put a belt on. I fix my hair and I grab my sunglasses saying "mom!" She comes to my room saying "what?" I say "too much for being a guest at a graduation?" Mom says "absolutely not. You look so good. This is what you're supposed to wear to a graduation, but some are lazy."
I say "god, I'm meeting his mom too. I'm sitting with the family." She says "you look real good. Go do it. Have fun, baby" kissing my forehead. She leaves my room and I grab some money, my keys, and the ticket. I put my sunglasses on and I get in my car then I start driving. I first go to pick up flowers cause it's my turn to be corny. I drive an hour to the school and I park then I go into the school to find the gym. I eventually get there and there are a few under classmen at the door helping with directions.
I go over to a girl with a clipboard and she says "can I help you?" I say "yeah, where am I going?" I show her my ticket and she giggles saying "sixth aisle from the front on the right side." She shows me a sheet of all the seating layouts and points at it. She says "right there" point at one specific spot and I say "thank you" smiling. I take a program and I go to sit down. I sit next to this very nicely dressed man and I cross my ankle over my knee.
I say "nice suit" and he says "you don't look so bad yourself." I look at him saying "what's your name?" He smirks saying "I'm Leo" and I say "Austin" shaking his hand. I look at the empty chairs in front of the audience saying "so, what kind of job did you have to leave to be wearing a suit to something like this?" He checks his watch saying "I'm a CFO" and I say "oh, you got a meeting after this?" I tap my wrist and he says "I do, but I'll probably end up cancelling. They don't need me everyday."
I say "how long have you been in this job?" He says "a little over a year" and I say "that's cool" smiling and we stand up when the music starts. Everyone walks and we sit down. I say "he's so fine" quietly then I mumble "is that all?" Leo nods and I mumble "my graduating class will be twice the size of this." He says "you're graduating this year?"
I say "tomorrow" quietly and they give out scholarships, Eric getting like ten of them. Leo mumbles "I knew he was smart, didn't know he was this smart." Eric smiles as he gets his pictures taken with each award and scholarship. He does his valedictorian speech which he makes it short for all of our sakes. Then they walk across the stage and after a couple hours, we all start to stand up and see everyone. I stand up and Eric walks right up to me. I say "these are for you" and Eric blushes saying "and you say I'm the corny one?" I say "I had to get you back" making him chuckle.
