chapter 10 the knives

I went to training two days after Detrius came home. I'm headed to the arena right now. As I was walking out the doors I stopped just for a second. I saw Detrius fooling around with his buddy's. He hasn't seen them in a while. I felt a hand on my waist. It scared me and I jumped away. It was Caine. "So Niki is that your boyfriend over there. The bigger one wrestling the other ones?" He asked. "Yes. Thats him. So what's up?" I asked back. I wanted to change the subject. "Not much I was just going to do some throwing. Want to come while you let him do whatever he's doing?" He asked. "Yea sure. Why not." I replied. We walked over to the knife boards. "Niki go stand at the boards. I'll throw at you again." He said. "Uh last time you threw too low and scraped my side!" I said with a laugh. "Come on you can trust me!" He said laughing. He started running at me and I ran. He was faster than I was so he caught me and wrestled me to the ground. We kept wresting until he got me pinned. We did this a lot when we disagreed on something. He got off of me and helped me stand up. We walked back to the boards. "Alright you won like always. I'll stand at the board." I walked over to the boards. As soon as I was ready he started throwing. Every time he threw he was aiming for my hand. "Caine no not again. Last time you did that you were trying to pin my hand to the board!" I said. "Aw what no I wasn't. But I am now!" He started throwing faster. I ran across the boards and out to the field. He just skidded across my finger. He aimed in front of me. I turned around and went the other way. He kept throwing in front of me until I stopped. I realised I was standing back at the boards. I turned to look at him just as he threw his last one. It came straight at my hand. Bingo. He pinned my hand to the board. He did it before with my other hand. I pulled the knife out which hurt like hell. I picked up some knives even though blood was running down my arm. I threw them at him. I have better aim than he does. I was aiming for his hand. He was running and so was I. I threw the last knife I had. It hit his hand and he stopped running and pulled out the knife. He dropped it. "Alright alright truce. You win this time." He said walking over to me. This is what happened last time too. We both had holes in our hands from knives. We high five each other forgetting for a second that we had cuts in our hands. "AHH!" I let out a scream. He let out a yell so it was all good. We both started laughing as we walked over to the table with the first aid kit on it. We rubbed the healing cream on it. It would numb the cuts till they healed so we could still work with our hands. We walked over to Detrius and his friends laughing our heads off. We sat down and watched Detrius and stinger wrestle around while Vince watched and laughed at them. Eventually Detrius pinned down stinger and they stood up. Caine and I were laughing at the knives still so we didn't notice they were done fighting. I was laying on my back laughing when someone grabbed my hands and launched me into the air. I screamed a little and then realised it was Detrius. He caught me when I came back down and set me back on the ground on my feet. He had his arm around my waist. Caine was standing and talking to stinger and Vince. They ended up chasing each other across the field. I looked up at Detrius and kissed his chin. Thats all I could reach. He smiled and we walked back inside. We went back to my room. We hadn't gotten much sleep considering we stayed up talking all night. We went straight to bed that night. I was laying with my head on his chest and he had his hand on my stomach. I dozed off. It was easier knowing he was here.
