chapter 16 journey, the first night

I had been allowed to stay in my room with Detrius after they had checked me over. Being hurt was almost normal for me now. Its been a week since that big war we had. I'm leaving today finally and Detrius said he was not leaving my side this time. I had said bye to Hercules and to my father even though I hadn't talked to him much at all he was still my father and I figured I needed to say goodbye. Detrius and I climbed up onto razcar and took off. I waved at Hercules and all the people below as we were leaving. I wanted to cry. I met so many good people there and I just didn't want to leave but I had to see my mother. I knew that everything I created was still going to be there. I left my tiger with Hercules and my guns and weapons I gave to Caine. It was already starting to get dark so Detrius and I were going to set up camp soon. We found a small spot that was clear enough to set up our small tent. After we set it up razcar went and caught some fish. We started a fire and waited for him to come back. While we waited we talked about our lives before we met. Turns out he used to be a war fighter until they needed him to protect me. I'm glad that happened. "Niki there is one more thing I need to tell you." He said. "Ok is it something bad?" I asked. "Well some people think so but others never cared so I didn't tell them." He answered. "Ok well I guess it depends on what it is." I said. "Ok well I'm what they call a splice. A splice is one species and another species mixed together to make a different species all together." He said. "So like if you mixed a cat and a dog it would be like a cog or a dat kind of thing?" I asked. He laughed. "Yea sort of. I was bred for a military purpose. And the way they do it I am basically bred to be over protective whether its with famliy friends or just the people I fight with. It was mainly for when i was fighting so that i would be able to protect them almost without fear. I felt that I needed to tell you just in case anything happened and you got scared. See with a splice when your mixed with an animal you can change into that animal. I was spliced with a wolf. Now I need to show you something." He had explained all of it and then stood up. He walked a little ways away from me and then as I watched his face it was like a snout formed on his face and then he turned into a giant wolf. I was scared at first. He layed down like a dog would when they would submiss to you. I relaxed a little bit and watched. He slowly changed back. He still had under wear on. I figured it was specially made for them. I was still a little scared. "Niki please Dont be scared of me. I would never hurt you. Just please Dont be afraid of me." He was sitting on the ground. I walked over to him and hugged him. He put his arms around me. "Detrius how could I ever be afraid of you. I love you. I know you would never hurt me." I said to him. He looked up at me. "I have lost so many friends and family because they were afraid to be around me. I Dont want you to leave too." He said. "I would never leave you. Ever." I said to him. He looked into my eyes and smiled. I smiled back. He put a pair of jeans on and sat back down with me at the rock we were sitting at before. Razcar came back a few seconds later. He dropped the fish down from his talons. He cooked them over the fire as we laughed and talked. When they were ready we ate. Razcar had eaten already when he had been out fishing. "I still can't believe that you are part wolf. Like thats amazing." I said looking at the stars. "Yea you could say that." He said with a laugh. Once we were done eating we fell asleep against the rock.
