chapter 4 the attack

After I had fallen asleep last night I thought I had heard noises in the middle of the night but I guess not. I woke up around four in the morning to the sound of something falling and breaking. I sat up and saw the bathroom light was on. I could see a shadow. It looked like a regular person. Until it turned. When it turned I saw that its shadow had the snout of a wolf. I realised that it could see my shadow just peeking into the light. I could hear it start walking. It cane out of the bathroom and I stood up against the wall. I saw a peice of glass on the floor from whatever broke. I picked it up. It was small but maybe good enough to defend myself. I hadn't had much training so I didn't know whether I would be able to fight it off. I looked it over and I saw its huge claws and its sharp teeth. I'm dead. Thats it its over. Im dead. It started towards me and I steadied myself. I swung at it with the glass but it pushed my hands back against the wall and i couldn't get them free. He stepped on my feet so I couldn't kick. He was sniffing my neck. He started licking my neck. And then when I didn't see it coming he bit down hard on my neck. I screamed. I felt the blood on my legs. My vision was getting blury. I still tried to escape even though I was going to die. I figured it was worth a shot to try and get to the door but I couldn't get out of his grip. He dropped me for a moment and I started coughing up blood. I looked over and saw he was full on wolf now. He picked up my body in his mouth and bit down I could feel my ribs crush. He started shaking me. I screamed one last time. The last thing I saw was the door start to open and my vision went dark.

I woke up in a bed. Startled I tried to sit up and a searing pain went through whole body. I yelled and and my whole body felt tense. I heard a chair move but I was having trouble breathing so I couldn't do anything. My eyes were closed. The pain started going away and I opened my eyes. Detrius and Hercules were standing over me. "Niki how are you feeling?" Hercules asked. "How do you think I'm feeling!" I said to him in a frustrated tone. "Sorry I didn't mean to say it like that I'm just in a lot of pain right now. I'm sorry herc." I said again. He put his hand on my cheek and smiled. "I need to go but feel better alright sis." He said still smiling. I could see the empathy in his eyes. "Ok. I'll see you later right?" I asked. "Of course. See ya Detrius." He said going out the door. I looked over at Detrius. he was sitting in the chair next to my bed. I could see how worried he was in his eyes even though he smiled. I smiled back. "Niki I'm so sorry this happened. I promised myself that I would not let you get hurt. And I did. I let you get hurt." I could see the tears forming in his eyes and then he looked down. "Detrius this isn't your fault. I Dont know how or why this happened but its not your fault." I said back. He looked up and smiled. I could see a little bit of happiness in his eyes. I know he means well and he wants to protect me but I'm going to have to learn to protect myself better too.
