Chapter 24

Sarah's POV

After we entered the restaurant I was amazed by the view and how beautiful the place was. I have not gone out much as I was not allowed to have business dinners with my parents and they never let me go out to these places as they were just unnecessarily expensive. And I never had any friends who would accompany me anywhere.

Basically, it was my first date and my first visit to a fancy restaurant.

When the menu arrived I was shocked to see the prices of the dishes and some did not even have prices mentioned. I was looking for the cheapest dish as I didn't want Alex to waste his money on me as he already said that the dinner was because of he wanted to apologise to me. I can't let him waste so much of his hard-earned money on such expensive things especially not for me.

But then he said to order without thinking. I just ordered pasta that looked less expensive and also it was the only dish I could figure out on the menu.

We were talking, mostly I was talking about history. When I asked him about his history he seemed sad. I don't want to upset anyone especially not him and also I promised him on the engagement dinner that I would never enter his personal space. I quickly told him.  "Sorry I did not want to invade your privacy, I just got excited. It's okay if you don't want to share something personal with me." so that he doesn't get upset and leave the dinner in between because of me.

But he was okay with it and he started talking

Alex's Story start

Before I started my own business, 5 years back I was just 18 and I was so angry at my father, him always telling me that all the facilities that I got was because of him and nothing would remain if I got the power and he were not the one managing it.

So I became exactly what Dad thought, this rich brat and started using his name to sleep with models and girls in his business circle. I just wanted to hurt him by showing him how it would be if I really became the one he always thinks of me as.

(There was 1 other reason for my behaviour change but I am not telling her or anyone. I can't narrate that part to hurt her and myself.)

After 1 year of degrading him through my actions like just drinking and dating new women almost everyday. I got him angry with me even more and that was what I wanted.

But, still I never felt happy from the inside, I was always empty and no matter what I did or how much money I spent I was never happy.

That was when I decided that I would no longer be someone my father thinks I am but show him that I am the complete opposite. So, I left all the bad habits I had and focused solely on my business. And 3 years later I had my own company along with Daniel my best friend, and made it the size almost equal to the size of my father's.

That day when I went to his office with the magazine that had my story posted of my success to rub it in his face. I saw him crying reading something in his office, it was the first time I ever saw him cry. I was watching him from the crack of his open office door, then I cleared my throat to make my presence felt. He quickly put himself together so that I could not see him in this state and when I entered he had a huge smile on his face.

I threw the magazine on his desk in front of him and said "See I am not all that you thought of me to be."

He said "I always knew who you were Alex, you just needed to know yourself." That was when I saw this spark in his eyes. He was proud of me and I was delighted to see him proud.

That day I realised that he knew me more than I know myself, and all the harsh words and actions he said and did were just for me to work harder. So I did in the end. But I made a lot of mistakes in the process, I just hope he and others forgive me for that.
