Daniel's POV
I have been delighted since Mia agreed to stay with me. I had always wanted to ask her to move in with me, but I knew she wasn't ready. Now that she's here, I can't seem to get enough of her. I have a feeling that this Christmas is going to be the best one of my life.
Christmas Eve is just around the corner. A week ago, during dinner with the Reynolds family, I asked Sarah to bake me Snicker-doodles as a Christmas present, telling her she wouldn't need to buy anything for me.
She agreed with a smile and said, "I'd do that anyway. I know how much you like them." She's such a sweetheart.
Today, Mia told me that Sarah was going to bake Snicker-doodles for our Christmas Eve celebration. So, here I am, sitting at their kitchen counter with Alex while Sarah is busy cooking Snickerdoodles. She's on her last batch, which she's baking for us to enjoy today. Alex had to be here for two reasons. First, I came to his house with the excuse of working on something, and second, he's a bit of a possessive jerk who wouldn't leave his wife alone with me or any man, for that matter.
As we were almost done and Sarah was finishing up cleaning the kitchen, she started taking the last batch of Snicker-doodles out of the oven for us, all while we were sipping our coffees.
"You're really lucky she bakes such delicious sweets," I said.
Alex stared lovingly at Sarah and replied, "With her, every moment is a memory, every day is a celebration, and every night is a dream come true. I found a home in her."
I couldn't resist teasing him, "You are so whipped, man." He glared at me in response.
Out of nowhere, Sarah gasped and, placing her tray on the kitchen counter in front of us, she rushed to Alex and said, "What? How? Are you hurt?"
Both of us looked at her, not understanding why she was suddenly acting this way and why she was so concerned about Alex.
Then she went behind him, checking his back, and said, "Does it hurt? Remove your shirt; let me see." Alex nearly choked on his coffee, and I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction.
However, I still couldn't comprehend why Sarah was behaving like this out of the blue. What had come over her? Alex was looking at her as if she had grown two heads, and I shared the same sense of amusement. I found it amusing that Alex was feeling shy about showing his body to a girl. That was certainly new.
Then Sarah asked, "Why are both of you looking at me like that? Anyway, Alex, let's call the police and tell them someone hit you. I told you not to fight, so why did you? Did you fight with Karen?" She scolded him, and he appeared utterly baffled because it was the first time he had not been involved in a fight.
How did she know that we confronted the person who had harmed Sarah at college? We exchanged looks, silently asking, 'Who told her?' but we both remained tight-lipped.
"Stop staring at each other and tell me where you're hurt and why you fought and who hit you," she continued to scold him.
The expression on Alex's face was priceless. He looked both guilty and confused, resembling a mischievous child being scolded. It was highly entertaining 😂.
"What?? Who said I was hit? A-and I-I didn't fight with anyone? How do you know?" Alex was utterly confused about what Sarah was talking about.
"Daniel just said you were whipped. Let's call the police and tell them..." Turning towards me she gazed directly into my eyes as if she might kill me. SHIT!! "Why didn't you help him when he got whipped, or are you whipped too?"
Then, both of us burst into laughter at her antics. She was too innocent for this world. Alex stared at her as if he'd just seen an angel and wanted to hold her in his arms right away. I recognised that look; it was how I looked at Mia, and Sarah was right, I was whipped too.
