Sarah's POV

After the auditions, I headed to the parking lot, feeling both nervous and disheartened. I had made up my mind to talk to Alex and ask him to help me leave the drama society. I just couldn't see myself performing on stage.

As I approached the parking area, I noticed Alex standing there, with Amelia attempting to cling to him. It seemed like he was trying to politely distance himself from her.

I quickened my pace, not only because I didn't like Amelia and how she was drooping herself on Alex but also because I wanted to leave the place as soon as possible.

When I finally reached them, Amelia shot me a displeased look and said mockingly, "You know, Alex, dear, she claims to be your wife... like she can dream, right?" Her words stung, and my heart sank.

I feared that she would now criticize my appearance and suggest I wasn't fit to be Alex's wife. What if he actually agreed with her?

I couldn't bear to hear it, and I knew that she wouldn't listen to anything I had to say, so I decided to leave without any words.

"Actually..." Alex began, but I cut him off.

"Alex, let's go. You must be getting late for your meeting," I said urgently.

Alex and Amelia both looked at me, and Amelia flashed a smug smile.

I attempted to open the car door to leave, but it was locked. Ugh, why is it locked?

Alex moved to my side, holding me by the waist.

"You know I am never too busy for my wife," Alex reassured me with a kiss on my cheek.

Worry crept into my mind. What would Amelia think of me? I dreaded her laughter, making fun of how inadequate I appeared compared to Alex. I couldn't bear it, so I closed my eyes, hoping to disappear.

A moment of silence followed. When I dared to open my eyes, I found a smiling Alex and a stunned Amelia.

Without acknowledging her, Alex, opened the door of the car, and said, "My Lady." I took my seat, and he entered from the other side. We began to drive away.

Curiosity got the best of me, and I asked, "Why are you here? Why did you come to pick me up instead of sending the driver? Don't tell me you have another surprise planned."

It's not like I don't like surprises but he is making my heart beat fast and the feeling I can't control is getting to my head and heart.

Alex chuckled, "Why can't I come to pick up my wife?"

"Of course, you can," I said, "But you have work. Why would you leave that behind for me?"

He said something under his breath that I didn't catch.

'I can leave everything behind for you my little Dove.'

"I've told you, I'm never too busy for my wife. Besides, you had your audition today, and I promised you ice cream." He smiled warmly at me.

I was taken aback by his thoughtfulness. He remembered? Even though he was half-asleep when he mentioned it. He actually came for the ice cream, for me? I couldn't help but smile, appreciating his kindness.

"So, how did it go?" he asked, breaking the moment.

My smile faded, and I hesitated, unsure of how to share what had happened during the auditions.

"You know what, let's eat ice cream and have a fun day, and not talk about that. What do you say?" Alex suggested, sensing my mood, even though he didn't know what had happened in the hall.
