Sarah's POV
After Mia's pregnancy announcement, everyone got overly excited, especially Maa. She has always wanted her children to get married and have kids. Congratulations were pouring in, and the party extended later than expected.
However, since the announcement, Alex seemed a little lost. Despite the shouting with Daniel when he ran out, I thought they were fine. There is something on his mind, and I hope he tells me; otherwise, he'll keep it inside and be stressed alone.
Maa took on the role of the event planner for Mia's wedding, which is happening within two weeks. Daniel can't wait to get married, especially now that Mia is pregnant. Naturally, I became her Maid of Honour. Maa was so excited that she began suggesting baby names, and I suspect she already has a notebook with a collection of them.
Even during the ride home, Alex was silent, with his eyes closed and head resting on the headrest. Perhaps I'm overthinking, and he's just tired.
As we entered the room, I tossed the heels I never wore back. While Alex changed and settled into bed, I removed my makeup. I opted for a crop top and shorts since it was a hot July day.
Approaching the bed, I noticed Alex was already asleep, with one arm tucked under his head and the other over his eyes. I turned off the lights to give him peace and lay on my back, contemplating various thoughts—especially what Mia said and how she must be feeling about becoming a mother.
I felt a hand caressing my bare stomach and opened my eyes to find Alex. He faced me, fingers moving over my stomach, lost in thought. I don't think he even realised what he was doing. Since I was wearing a crop top, my stomach was bare for him.
"Alex, are you alright?" I asked, concerned.
"Yes," he replied, still deep in thought.
Since he remained silent and continued playing with the hem of my clothes and skin, I closed my eyes.
"Daniel was really happy, you know," he said, and I opened my eyes and looked at him.
He met my gaze and added, "I know he freaked out initially, but that's only natural given the news he got. But he was genuinely very happy."
Turning to face him, I found him still unconsciously roaming his fingers over my skin.
"Yes, even Mia seemed over the moon. Maa too—she even started picking baby names," I chuckled, and so did he.
"Mom is always excited about things like these. Now she has two things on her hands: one wedding and the second Mia's pregnancy. She'll be at Daniel's most of the time, and when she's not, I assure you Mia will be here," he said, smiling.
"Yes, and nobody can even say no to her," I added, and he chuckled, knowing there was no denying Maa.
We locked eyes for a moment, and then he averted his gaze to his fingers tracing patterns on my skin.
"You know, when Dan and I were young, we made a promise that we would both have a very large family with a lot of kids," he said dreamily.
"Really? How big, exactly?" I asked, curious.
He smiled, remembering, and said, "When we were kids, neither of us had any siblings, and we didn't have any other friends to play with. One day, when Dad promised to play with us, we invited some of our schoolmates, but nobody ever showed up."
"I was very bored since it was just Dan and me, and we never got to play football with others in a team. So, when nobody showed up, and even Dad ditched us for some meeting, I told Dan,
'Dan, I have decided. One day, I am going to grow up and have 11 kids so that they don't have to wait for others to come play. They would have their own team to play with'." He smiled, and so did I.
