Sarah's POV

When Daniel and Alex went to get checked, I noticed that Noah didn't follow behind.

"Aren't you going to get yourself checked?"

"No, I'm not that injured. I'll stay put until they both return."

"You should also get yourself checked; you seemed pretty badly hurt as well."

"I'm fine, Sarah. How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine." He sat in the seat far in the corner, and I got up from my bed to go where Mia was, as I promised Daniel.

"Where are you going?" Noah asked, getting up from his seat as well.

"Um... to Mia," I said, as if it were obvious.

"No, you will rest. You are not fit to move around," he said sternly.

"Noah, please, I need to see her," I pleaded.

He looked at me and then said, "You stay here and rest while I go and check on her," and I nodded.

After 10 minutes, I could no longer just sit idly in bed, so I went out of my room to look for Mia. I saw Noah standing and talking to a middle-aged man outside Mia's room. Then Noah received a call and excused himself. I saw him leave, so I went to where he was standing first and stood guard.

The middle-aged man approached me and said, "Shouldn't you be resting, child?"

I looked up at him and saw his red hair and features that matched Mia's, and I thought he was Mia's father. "I can't leave her all alone; she doesn't like to be alone," I said convincingly so that he would not force me to return to my room.

He looked at me for a minute and then said, "If I ask you to return, you wouldn't, would you?" I shook my head no in reply.

Sighing, he said, "You are just like her—stubborn. At least go sit on the benches while I stand here." I nodded and sat on the uncomfortable benches in front of her room. Although they were uncomfortable and I was feeling a little dizzy, I waited for the doctors to come out and let us meet Mia.

After 15 minutes, I saw Mia's father looking worried, so I went to him and said, "I think you should take a rest or have something to eat."

"I'm fine," he said dismally.

"Mia would not like to see you like this."

He looked at me and nodded. "I am going to the cafe for coffee; do you need anything?" I shook my head, no, and he went to the cafeteria.

As I stood there, Daniel came out of his room and scolded me for standing guard.

I stood there not only because I had promised him but because I was scared to leave her alone. The fear lingered that if I left her alone, the man might return and harm her. I felt scared sitting alone in my room.

When Alex came and embraced me, I wanted nothing more, and tears flowed in his comforting hold. With him, I felt safe, knowing that nothing would harm me if he was there.

He then took my hand and led me towards the room I had been in before.

"I want to stay here with Mia," I protested.

"Sarah, you need to rest. You are hurt, and you fainted for fuck's sake," but I was not ready to leave Mia alone; I was scared.

Then I saw Alex remove the clip from the band that held his arm. He picked me up in a bridal style, and I let out a small screech. "Alex, you're hurt; you'll hurt your arm more. Put me down," I tried to get away from him.
