Sarah's POV

While exploring Madrid, the evening had set in, but my excitement to visit Spain and experience its rich heritage kept me wide awake. It was my first time traveling outside of New York, and the thrill of being in a country I love heightened the experience.

Despite my eagerness to continue wandering, Alex mentioned he needed to return to the hotel for some important work. I agreed, realizing that I couldn't walk the streets alone. The fear of another potential incident haunted me, and I decided not to stay alone in an unfamiliar place.

Upon entering the suite, the ambient lighting was dim. Alex headed into the room for work, and I settled in the living room to watch TV. I wasn't tired, and I didn't want to disturb Alex while he focused on his tasks.

As I watched TV, a notification rang on my phone. Anticipating a message from Mia about our trip, I eagerly picked up the phone. To my surprise, it was a message from Alex, and I furrowed my brows in confusion.

💍❤️: Hey Dove, come to the balcony.

(A/N: if you guys remember when Alex bought a phone for Sarah he saved his name under a ring and a heart emoji on her phone, and Sarah was also confused when she first saw it when he called.)

I wondered why he was calling me out when he was supposed to be busy with work. Perhaps he was working outdoors and needed something. Curious, I walked out.

Approaching the glass window and opening the passage, I noticed the lights were off. Alex was unsettling me—why was he working in the dark?

Stepping out, a small lights lit the path and I saw two parallel lines of roses, and my phone rang again.

💍❤️: Keep walking.

Sarah: Where are you?

I messaged him, perplexed.

💍❤️: Keep walking, mon trésor. The lighted path will lead you to me.

Still uncertain about what was happening, I took another step forward, and more lights illuminated. Walking a few steps, all the lights lit up, and what unfolded before me brought tears to my eyes. I felt shocked, happy, confused—overwhelmed with emotions. I didn't know what to say or feel.

In front of me were balloons decorating the background, with Alex on one knee, holding a velvet box in his hands, looking incredibly handsome in a suit. A large "MARRY ME" sign was beside him. When did he even change into this attire and make all these arrangements?

Approaching Alex, he opened the red velvet box, revealing my wedding and engagement rings—the ones I had been searching for over the past week

I thought I had lost them when I got kidnapped, but he had kept them all this time.
