Sarah's POV
We were quite confused when Alex and Daniel came to the college and said they had come to take us but never told us where. We both suspected that these boys were surely up to no good. 😜
When we reached back home, we were taken to Maa's room straight away.
"So, Sarah and Mia, freshen up quickly because we're going shopping."
"But Maa, why are we going shopping?"
"Maa?" Mia asked. I forgot to tell her that I call Eli 'Maa' now.
"Yes, she calls me Maa now, and soon you will too if that stupid son of mine proposes to you soon enough. I don't know how long he's going to wait??" Maa said as if it was nothing.
But that left Mia with her mouth wide open, literally touching the floor.
"Maa, you're scaring her. Chill, Mia. Maa is just excited that Daniel finally has a girlfriend, and she's ready to get him married off the second he agrees." Seriously, what is it with Maa getting everyone married off?
Even I want to see Mia marry Daniel; they are made for each other.
"Umm... I..." Mia wanted to say something.
"Don't worry, child. He's not proposing to you any time soon. That thick head needs to figure out his feelings first, and I think you do too." Maa rubbed her hand on Mia's back, comforting her.
"Okay," Mia managed to say.
"Maa, what is it they both are planning? They said nothing to us, and now you're taking us shopping?" I tried to change the topic.
"I can't tell you, but what I can tell you is that you both need to doll up and dress beautifully."
"But Maa, I already have dresses. Can't we wear something from that? Why waste money buying more when some of them I haven't even worn a second time?"
"Oh, Sarah dear, a woman never has enough clothes."
"I love shopping," Mia chirped in.
"I guess you're going to take me anyway?" I sighed.
"YES!" they both said at the same time and sounded excited.
The three of us then went to the mall, the same mall I went to with my mother when we were shopping for my wedding dress. Thinking of that day, my face fell because I remembered how my mother hadn't even tried contacting me since I got married four months ago. Does she have nothing to do with me? Do I not mean anything to her?
Maa took us to another section. It was a private area of the mall. At the security, she said, "We are the Reynolds," and the security let us in without even checking us. Strange. I guess Reynolds is reputable and doesn't require passes for these things. To access the private section, you usually need a pass, which my mom has worked hard to obtain.
When we entered the private section, Maa stopped and said, "You both are going to buy anything you want here without worrying about the budget."
"Maa, we're not going to shop that much."
"This mall is owned by Alex and Daniel. Since they're not telling you about the surprise, you both can take this card and spend their money as punishment," she said, handing us two black cards with Alex and Daniel's surnames written on them, 'Reynolds' and 'Ashford.'
"You're so bad, Eli. I already love you," Mia said excitedly.
"We can't do that to them, Maa," I felt bad for them.
"Sarah, your shopping is not going to hurt even a thread in his pocket, don't worry," Maa said dismissively.
After three hours, we were done shopping, and to say I was tired is an understatement, while these two were just getting started and more excited. We were done and were about to go back when Maa said, "Wait, we still need to visit one store, and we need to go; it's the most important."
