"Natalie Marie Prior! Get down here this instant" my voice resonates through the halls. My sixteen year old daughter appears at the base of the stairs. Her dark hair falls in waves down her back, ending near her rib cage. Her attire is dark, composed of reds and blacks that complement her well.

"Where's your brother?" I ask her

"How should I know?" She laughs, her eyes crinkling at the corners.

"Toby" i shout up the stairs, without getting a reply. " Toby Andrew, if you aren't down here in three seconds I'm going to drag you down the stairs by your ears. You're going to be late"

"I'm here, I'm here, don't get your panties in a twist" Toby, my son, grumbles. He's sixteen as well, with lighter hair than his sister, but that's definitely not his most prominent feature. No, what really makes him special are his eyes, a deep blue that makes him look thoughtful, a blue that isn't unfamiliar to me.

"Mom" Nat mutters shyly " Can I go somewhere with Zach today after school?" Zach is Zekes son, who goes to the same school as my kids. For a few years, I had wandered, showing people what I knew and trying to change the way things worked. But, eventually, I settled back down at my roots. It was odd, the moment I entered the city, I was asked to help devise a plan for the new government. The factions have gone, after much bickering. Everyone is taught that all of the traits are to be embraced. Three years after I returned, I adopted two beautiful babies. The same beautiful babies that stand before me now

" You want to go on a date?" I ask with a smirk.

"Shut up mom" Nat mutters, embarrassed.

"Sure. Zach's a good kid." I agree.

"Wonderful. She's going out with Zach. I'm going out with Rose" Christina and Wills daughter " that leaves you the only single person in the house."

" And single I shall stay" I declare.

"But why? Why not get together with someone and have kids of your own?"

"You are my kids." I state

" you're evading the question." Nat sings.

"Alright, yes, I'm evading the question." I admit

"Why though?" Toby asks

" I loved someone, and there's no replacement" I say with a faint smile.

" Why not be with him then?" Nat asks

"I can't."

"Why?" Toby presses

"You have school" I remind them.

"School can wait." Nat protests. I sigh, looking at my lovely kids. In some ways, it seems like yesterday that I was their age. But, on the other hand, it seems like a lifetime ago.

"You really want to know?" I sigh

"Yes" they chorus

"Alright." I mutter, pulling them to the couch. " There was one mirror in my house...."
