Today we are visiting my dad and my grandparents. I'm more scared than Lizzie is and I have very right to be. My dad isn't the type of dad most kids have, he's horrible and drinks way too much. I'm looking forward to seeing my grandma again though, she always makes me smile and laugh. She's the one who kept me going.

I feel a hand on my back "are you okay?" Lizzie whispers softly "just nervous" I mumble "it's okay to be nervous, I'm nervous all the time when I'm acting". I turn around and face her "your not nervous to see your family. I'm nervous to see mine" "im sure it's all going to be okay" she smiles and cups my cheeks "but if its not we can leave whenever you want. Just say" I nod and hug her. She plays with the baby hairs on the back of my neck whilst kissing my ear whenever she feels like it "let's get my dad over with and save my grandparents for later" she nods and lets go. I grab my bag from the couch and check my phone to see if anyone texted me but they haven't "okay, let's go" I sigh and unlock my car.

My dad lives around twenty minutes away from my grandparents house so not far speaking. My mum's parents however live in England where I was born and my mums from so they would have to be an extra special trip. Lizzie gets in the passengers seat and rubs my knee "you okay?" I nod and start the engine. I pull out of Lizzies house and drive down the small road to get onto the highway, I indicate into the fast lane speed up "can I have some background on what to say and what not to say" lizzie smiles looking out her window "well I'm not sure you really want to be talking to my dad but okay. Probably don't mention my mum because that would piss him off and anything to do with shopping" she nods as we go back into the slower lane "what about you grandparents" I shake my head "happy with anything". Lizzie smiles and turns on the radio "im excited" she says rather cheerfully "I'm not sure I would be" I mumble under my breath.

We finally arrive at my dads house and Lizzie puts her hand on my shoulder "its going to be alright baby" she sooths, I nod and take a deep breath before driving through the open gate. I park next to dad's 2009 Ford fiesta and stop the car. "Come on. The quicker we get in there, the quicker we can leave" lizzie smiles grabbing her bag from the back seat. I grab mine aswell and open the car door.

Dogs start barking and both of dad's Rotweilers dart towards us. Lizzie jumps back in the car and closes the door quickly, does she think the dogs will mawl her? With the names pretzel and Churro I don't think they could do any harm. They stop infront of my and start liking my hands "you guys are so slimmy" I laugh and stroke them as they sniff around my dress "don't put any of your gunk on me" I frown and make my way over to lizzies dar. I open it for her and the dogs stick their noses in "pretzel Out!" I shout and the dog obays. "They aren't going to eat me" lizzie checks and I shake my head "no they're not. Come on" she gets out the car and the dogs sniff her aswell. I lock up the car and we go over to the front door "did you name the dog pretzel?" I nod proudly "yep, I named them Pretzel and Churro when I was sixteen" I smile proudly and ring the bell. Lizzie kiss my lips quickly just in time before the door opens to reveal my father.

"Hello darling" he greets in a black suit with a tie and white socks. Since when has my dad ever wore a suit, I don't even think he wore one at mums funeral. I look at Lizzie confused but hug him loosely "hi dad?" I say confused. I pull away and look up at him, freshly shaved hair and no beard. This isn't my dad. I look at him, he's different "so honey, you going to introduce this beautiful woman?" She chuckles and looks at Lizzie. I nod "um yeah sorry. Lizzie this is my dad and dad this is Elizabeth but lizzie is preferd" I smile. He reaches a hand out and lizzie shakes it "its lovely too meet you. I didn't think my daughter would find anyone respectable". I laugh under my breath, he's the opposite of respectable.

We step into his house, it's clean and vacuumed. Where's the beer bottles and lumps of mold and asbestos ceiling which I once knew. "I thought you said he was rough" lizzie whispers as qe take off our shoes and dad goes into the kitchen "he was" I whisper. Lizzie follows me into the kitchen and I look around at the clean worktop and clean walls "what can I get you to drink? Ginger breer, elderflower cordial, orange juice?" Dad lists "can I have a ginger beer please" lizzie smiles "of course. She's a very polite one y/n, I like her" he says getting a glass out of the cuboard "can I have the same please dad" he nods and gets ice out of the freezer.
