It's boxing day, my favourite time of the year. The decorations are still up and there's all the left overs from yesterday. Lizzie salmon canapes and roast chicken sandwiches are the things I adore most. Nana and grandad stayed last night because it's too far for them to drive back home at eleven at night.
I roll onto my side and open my eyes a crack only to get blinded my the light. I burry my face in Lizzie's neck and blow raspberries making her giggle "morning baby" she laughs and rubs my back "your phone's blinding me" "sorry. It's away now". I sit up and rub my eyes, Lizzie kisses my cheek making me smile "I love that I get kisses every morning" Lizzie smiles and runs her hands through my hair "it's snowing today so would you like to take a walk on the beach?" I nod "yeah, that would be nice. Have you seen my grandparents this morning?" "Their downstairs eating breakfast. I saw when I let Leia out" "okay, that's good. What should I wear today?" I get out of bed and open my wardrobe "something warm but still makes you look gorgeous" "I always looks gorgeous" I smirk making her laugh. Finally I find something, a wool white jumper with a beige jacket, jeans and boots. I strip down Infront of Lizzie and watch as her eyes dart to different areas of my body "so beautiful" she mumbles and gets leurd out of bed. Her arms wrap around my waist and she pulls me into her "why are you doing this today?" I shrug looking into her eyes "I want to make you teaseable". I pull up my pants and my jeans, Lizzie slides my bra over my head and gets it in the right position for me "I really do hate you sometimes" she frown as I pull on my white jumper "I love you too'.
Finally once we are both dressed and ready, we go downstairs to the kitchen "morning" I greet and kiss both my grandparents heads "morning sweetie" Nana smiles with grandad. Lizzie puts the kettle on and I sit at the table "you've done something with your hair" grandad says "it's curled, I hate when Americans do that" Nana says making me try not to laugh "it's just wavy, I like it. Lizzie says I need to look pretty even though we are walking on a beach and it will get notty anyway". The back doors open and I catch Leia digging a hole my a citron tree, I quickly get up and stand in the doorway "Leia!" I shout and she looks at me before running over. I bend down and pick her up "stop digging holes in my garden you monster. Dig holes anywhere else" I tell her whilst she licks my hands. I take off her boots and close the door "has she been fed?" I ask Lizzie who's making our morning coffees "not yet. She needed a wee too much when I came down". I pour some food and water into her bowls and she quick to eat "good girl'.
Lizzie joins us at the table with our toast and coffees "where going to the beach today" I tell Nana and grandad "that's lovely dear" "would you like to come? I'm sure Lizzie doesn't mind" "it's alright. We're too old to be outside too long nowadays" Nana says and picks up her mug "okay but only if your sure" she nods and takes a slurp. I take a bit of toast, Lizzie's chair moves back quickly "I forgot something. I'll be back" she runs upstairs and we all laugh "she's been acting weird all week" "Leia no!" I tell her sternly as she scratches at the laminated flooring. She instantly stop and curls up in her bed "good girl" I coo and go back to eating my toast.
Lizzie comes downstairs with her bag and puts my hair up in a clawclip "ready to go?" She asks and kisses my head "yeah let's go" I put the dirty things in the dishwasher and say bye to my grandparents. I put my jacket on and Leias jacket and boots on "come on" she follows me to the front door and Lizzie grabs the keys that are hanging up "we're going now!" I call to them "have fun!" I open the door and Leia runs around the drive until I put her in the boot. Lizzie starts the engine "whick beach are we going to then?" I ask buckling in "I want to take you to red rock canyon park, is that okay?" I nod "only if we go to the beach after" Lizzie smiles and starts to drive us there.
We finally arrive and I put Leias lead on whilst Lizzie puts her coat on. "ready?" I nod and Leia jumps out the car, she walks Infront of us and Lizzie intertwines her hands around mine. I squeeze her hand tightly making her look at me "you don't need to be nervous, it's okay. Leias on a short leads, she's going to be fine" Lizzie nods and we go back to watching Leia leading us. "Which way?" I ask coming to a crossroad on our walking trail "let's go this way. There's great view" I follows Lizzie with Leia walking beside her because this path is narrow and I very much don't think the two of us would fit. I can't believe I've never been here before, the landscapes so different compared to where we live and it's right by Scarletts. The trees are covered in snow and so are the rocks that surround them.
