TW: GUNSHOT

Kristin Percxio/Kristin Parker

I heard the General's door close, and a few minutes later it opened with her talking on the phone.

"Hi! I didn't expect you to pick your phone up that fast..." she said while rushing downstairs.

"Do you want to, I don't know, have dinner with me?" she said, probably blushing because of her voice. WAIT. BLUSHING?! IS SHE GOING ON A DATE??!

"Really? Ok, I already have a reservation—" She paused. "No! I made the reservation for someone but they already are, so I don't want to cancel since it's a—" She paused again.

"IT'S NOT AN EXCUSE! Ok, whatever. Just go to La Grande Boucherie, I will meet you there." She said and closed the door, leaving the house. I have to follow her. The rules of the soldiers and generals of Faltor are incredibly strict, and if you break them you would be, as humans call it, 'dishonorably discharged'. One of the rules was to not get close to anyone or anything, so they could not be threatened and put the citizens in danger.

Does she not consider herself a Faltor general anymore?

Anyways, she is going on a date, and I definitely need to see, since she was the one who gave a big speech in Faltor about not being involved with citizens of other worlds. Plus, some material to blackmail in case she makes me do something. I quickly get some cash and call for a cab to follow her.

Her cab stopped at a posh looking restaurant, where there was different smells of delicious food in the air which could make somebody walking by drool. The reason I say that is because someone is currently drooling in front of the restaurant. It reminded of the food in Faltor, which had a close resemblance to french food.

Someone was waving at her towards a table. A tall, blond haired man with a suit on. He has a suit on the first date? Or is it the dress code?

Wait. That person looks familiar. The urge to just march down there and ask question were getting stronger...

But, she looks happy...

How did she meet him anyway?

Huh, what would happen if I joined them?

I then walk towards the kitchen, 'borrowing' a waiter's uniform which was the perfect fit for me.

"HEY NEW KID! TAKE THIS ORDER TO TABLE 7" Yelled a chef.

"YOU GOT IT BOSS!" I said with a wink which left him baffled.

I quickly but gracefully get the dish to table 7, which was right next to the table the General and Dr. Williams were seated.

Hold on.

"Dr. Williams??! What are you doing with the Gen- with the greatest Ava to exist?" I asked with a smile, hoping to cover my blunder.

"Did you follow me here?" Ava yelled.

"No! I work here! ARE YOU DATING MY TEACHER!" I whisper yelled when I realized that people were looking.

"Wait here." I said and served them their dinner. I rush to the kitchen.

"BOSS CAN I TAKE A BREAK?!" I yelled to the chef.

"WHATEVER!" He yelled back, still not recovered from my wink. Beauty is sometimes a blessing and a curse.

I go to the table Ava is in, and pull up a chair.

"Sorry, I've never seen Ava go on a date and I can learn from this too so don't mind me." I give Ava a smirk. She was obviously losing it, considering how I ghosted her for the few weeks and now I am ruining her date. Then I realized that I can't keep calling her 'General', since someone may hear us, but Ava is too boring. Maybe instead of me calling her 'Ava', I could call her 'Freaky', since her name starts with Friqe. No, that would be too mean.

"So Dr. Williams, what would you do if the news were to get out about you to dating?" I asked, being even more annoying.

"This isn't a date!" Ava said.

"It isn't?" Dr. Williams said, disappointment clearly showing.

"Yes it is. Wait no- I don't know!" Ava stuttered.

"Oh." Dr. Williams said.

I decided to help them out. "Do you want this to be a date?"

"Yes..." They both said.

"Ok, remind me not to go to you for relationship advice." I said, which made Ava huff and Dr. Williams chuckle.

"Also back to my question. But before that, do I still continue to call you Dr. Williams?" I ask him, which basically sounds like an interrogation.

"You can call me John, but you can't call me that at school, or anywhere near you classmates and teachers. That may raise some... rumors that are not needed."

"Alright, but if rumors of my sister and my teacher were dating to come out, that would humiliate me for life, everyone would judge Ava for every little thing, and you may lose your job. Are you willing to risk it?" I ask while raising my eyebrow.

"Well, we are obviously not at the dating stage, so the question should be answered after a little while? Since we aren't sure." He .

"Okay. That's good enough for me. Now excuse me." I say while getting up to go to the kitchen. Walking up to the chef, I prepare for the outburst.

"Chef, it was nice meeting you, but I quit." I say.

"WHAT??! YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST SERVERS I'VE HAD AND YOU WANT TO QUIT ON THE FIRST DAY??!" He yelled, but the people around him were unbothered. I guess they are used to it.

"Please sir. My ears." I plead.

"With your pretty smile, you are all the restaurant needs! Please tell me how I can keep you here." He said, clearly really bad with flattery.

"I want a raise."

"Well, it's normally $21 per hour, so how about $28?" He asks.

"Wow, $7 difference. How about $36?" I was pushing it, but whatever.

"Fine." He said hesitatingly. "I will get the paperwork by tomorrow."

"Wait, what do I call you?"

"Chef is fine."

"Chef it is. Bye Chef!"

I look towards Ava's table, and they were saying their goodbyes. Mr. Williams walked towards his car and Ava walked towards me.

"No goodbye kiss?" I ask.

"Shut upppp! This was our first date so obviously it would be too fast." She said with an annoyed face.

"Whatever you say sis." I say with a wink, making her blush for who knows what.

I can't believe I was distant with her. I feel so comfortable with her.

"So when can we start train—" I was interrupted by screaming people, who were running like frightened animals. Then I heard a gunshot. And I saw Ava collapse.
