When All The Lights Go Out

Chapter 13

Emma enters the room after taking a hot shower to relax her body. As she changes into clean clothes she lays down on her bed as she feels her eyes closing. As she tries to fall asleep she keeps turning around not finding some peace. She opens her eyes as she takes a deep breath trying to fall asleep. But when she finally gets some sleep, that's where the problems begin.

Everything is dark. Emma is alone as she stares at nothing. She tries to take a few steps but her legs aren't moving. She feels paralyzed. She tries to scream but no voice comes out. She feels paralyzed, numb, vunerable. She tries to move again but fails. Her body starts shaking slightly. She tries to open her eyes but she can't. She feels someone's eyes on her but she can't bring her feet to move. She feels the person getting closer and closer, almost suffocating her. She feels like she can't breath properly.

Her eyes start watering as tears are rolling down her cheeks. Emma's body is shaking uncontrollably as she tries to shout. When she forces herself to open her eyes she sees dark. She screams in fear as panic fills her entire body and then she hears the door burst open. "Emma are you ok?" she hears a panicked voice. It's Heeseung. Then her vision slowly starts to get back to normal as she adjusts her eyes in the darkness. Tears are streaming down her face as Heeseung pulls her into a hug. "Hey, shhh. What happened? Did you have a nightmare again?" Heeseung asks as she holds her tight, trying to calm her down. "I d-don't know" she tries to say as more and more tears are falling down her cheeks. "I think I experienced s-some form of s-sleep paralysis or something, I don't know" she says as Heeseung listens carefully, as she lightly strokes her hair. "What did you see?" Heeseung asks as she makes her look at him. "I am n-not sure what I saw...first it was d-dark and I felt like I couldn't move an inch. T-then I felt something looking at me but I c-couldn't turn around. I felt it coming closer and closer but I c-couldn't get my feet to move. I hate this so much" she says as she bursts into tears.

Heeseung stays silent listening to Emma's words. His hearts sinks watching her suffering like this. He's not sure what to do or how to help her with her sleep paralysis. "You feel alone, don't you?" he says as Emma looks at him nodding. "How about you sleep with me tonight? Maybe being with someone else helps you ease a bit" Heeseung says as he gently rubs her back. "Shhh, it's ok. You are ok don't worry. You are ok" he whispers softly as he holds her close.

After Heeseung brings her to his room, they lay down on the bed as he holds her close to him. "Don't worry. You are with me now, I am not gonna let anyone hurt you" Heeseung whispers softly as Emma curls beside him, as she feels herself calming down. "Thank you, Hee" she says closing her eyes, as Heeseung looks at her smiling softly. "Everything is gonna be ok".
