When All The Lights Go Out

Chapter 17

Heeseung stays true to his words as he actually takes some days off to stay at home. He is constantly watching over Emma, as he helps her out with a lot of things and makes sure she takes the right amount of breaks this time, so she doesn't overwork herself. Being at home, makes him feel way more relaxed. Not only because he is close to Emma but also because he avoids all the chaos in his office. He himself prefers to work from home but that's not possible most of the days.

Only Heeseung himself knows how much he needed this. Being at home with her is literally his wish every single day he is surrounded by the four walls of his cold office. The loneliness is killing him, since he has no actual interactions with anyone. Plus, he is not as close with his employees as he is with Emma obviously. He wants to constantly be by her side, no matter what. He needs her. He wants her.

Emma on the other hand feels like she can do anything with Heeseung by her side. She hasn't told him that but she doesn't need to, since she is convinced that Heeseung knows it already. She feels safe with him, more safe than she has ever felt in her entire life. She doesn't want to ruin what they have because even tho they are not together, there is this connection between them that makes her heart flatter. She knows she falls harder for him day by day but she will never admit it out loud. She doesn't want to make things akward between them because what if he doesn't feel the same way. It's true, Emma is afraid of rejection and being rejected by Heeseung it's her biggest nightmare at this moment.

As they prepare something in the kitchen, Heeseung turns to her. "I am sorry for not being home more often" he says as Emma looks at him smiling sweetly. "It's not your fault. I know you have tons of responsibilities at work, you have no choice. But I am glad you stayed back for me, I really appreciate it" she says as she takes his hand. Heeseung smiles and he can't help but keep staring right into her eyes. So many thoughts are going through his head and he wants to stay like this forever. Looking into her eyes, holding her close to him. He feels his heart beating faster and faster but he is too much of a coward to admit his feelings out loud.

Maybe, the main problem is that he doesn't know what he feels yet. Sure, he also feels there is a connection between them and of course, he cares a lot about Emma. But his racing heart every time he sees her smiling at him, is something he cannot fully understand. Is he in love with her? Heeseung tries to shake off that thought but it keeps coming back to him every single night. Every night he lays in his bed alone, he wishes she is with him. He wishes to hug her, cuddle with her, make her feel important, make her feel beautiful. He wants to do all of these but he doesn't know what's stopping him. Is it the fact that he is being single for so long? Is it because he thinks she is fragile so she doesn't wanna break her in any way? Or is it because he still hasn't figure out what's going on inside his head? So many questions unanswered and Heeseung wants to scream from frustruation.

"Are you ok?" Emma's voice snaps him back to reality as he looks at her. He didn't realize that he is still hugging her. Heeseung tries to play it cool as he gives her his best smile. "Yeah, I am just..." he pauses as Emma looks at him. "Just what?" she says with a smile. Heeseung can feel his face turning red as his cheeks start to  burn. "I am just happy you are here" he says as he pulls her into a tight hug. Emma smiles as she wraps her hands around him feeling relaxed. "I am happy I am here too" she says as turns aroumd to leave but Heeseung takes her hand surprising her. "Emma" he says with his voice trembling and he gets sweaty as he holds her wrist. "Yes?" Emma says as she turns around to face him. Heeseung stares at her as he collects all of his courage to say these eight damn words.

"Would you go on a date with me?"
