When All The Lights Go Out

Chapter 24

Emma looks at Jake who gives her a concerned look and then storms out of the room. "Emma wait!" Jake says as he runs behind her. Emma doesn't look back, determined to put an end in her suffering once and for all. She knows it is not the best time, but she also knows that if she doesn't put an end in this now, she'll never will. As she reaches downstairs she spots Zayn with his girlfriend clinging onto him. Gross. As she is about to storm out, she feels a hand grabbing her as she turns around to look at Jake. "What the hell are you gonna do huh? In front of everyone, are you nuts?!" Jake says as he looks back at Zayn. "It's now or never Jake" Emma says, feeling her blood boiling with anger. "Look I get why you want to do this and you have all the rights in the world to bury him to the ground, but trust me when I say it is not the right time" Jake says, dead serious as he looks at Emma. They stay quiet for a bit, trying to figure out what they are suppose to do. Jake sighs, as he takes her calmly by the hand as the lean against the wall. "Just wait ok" he says and at that exact moment, they both spot Heeseung outside going towards Zayn.

His aura is different, he walks slowly and steady, his dark hair shine through the dark night and his gaze is cold. Emma looks at him both in fear and awe, as she turns to Jake terrified. "What is he doing?" she says as she whispers, even more if it sounded more than a silent scream. "He's going to deal with Zayn. That's why I told you not to come down" Jake says as he looks at Heeseung. Emma stays there as she watches carefully Heeseung approaching Zayn. They seem like talking and everything seems to be fine, but something inside her screams yo stop Heeseung. "No. I can't let Heeseung do this for me. I have to do it myself" Emma says as she escapes Jake's grip and storms outside.

Heeseung looks at Zayn, as the other smiles at him. "Oh Heeseung. I forgot to introduce you to my girlfriend Mia. Mia this is Lee Heeseung. The guy I was just telling you about" Zayn says with a smile and it takes everything in Heeseung to hold himself back and not jump at him. "It is pleasure to meet you" Mia says with a sweet tone and Heeseung feels like throwing up. "Wish I could say the same" Heeseung says, catching them off guard, his voice full of poison. "Excuse me?!" Mia says as she scoffs. "What the hell is that suppose to mean?" she says her fists clenching from anger as Heeseung tries to remain as calm as possible. "It means that he doesn't want anything to do with bitches like you" they all are surpised as they turn around to see Emma walking towards them. Heeseung looks at her in shock, as well as Zayn. "Emma-" Heeseung tries to say but Emma cuts him off. "No Heeseung. Now it's my turn to speak" she says as she looks at Zayn and Mia. Heeseung looks around, his eyes searching for Jake. As soon as he spots him, he gives him a desperate look, but something in Jake's eyes makes Heeseung to back off and let Emma do the rest.

Zayn scoffs as he looks at his ex. "Well well, look at that. Fiesty now huh? You weren't like this when I first met you Emma. You changed a lot" Zayn says with a mocking tone in his voice. "Maybe because you hadn't destroyed my life back then" Emma says as she brings back all the memories she had with Zayn both the good and the bad ones. "Don't be so dramatic, it's not my fault if you couldn't handle a breakup like normal people do" Zayn says, making Mia laugh. "Oh I handled more than a breakup. I went through my parents' death myself, I was struggling to find a job for months, I was homeless, alone and broken. And all these for what? Because you decided that I wasn't good enough for you anymore. You decided to cut me off. I get that feelings change and of course, I would never force you to do anything you didn't want to, but the fact that you abandoned me when I needed you the most, it's just wow" Emma says as her eyes starts watering. "You are a pathetic coward Zayn. As soon as things didn't work out for you, boom. You disappeared. The man you are huh" Emma continues to speak, looking Zayn dead in the eyes.

Heeseung looks at Emma in shock, not knowing how to react to this whole scene unfolding in front of him. He looks at Zayn, his face has turned pale as his hands start trembling. "I am not here to hear your excuses" Emma continues as she slowly takes a step towards the couple. "Get the hell out of here" she whispers as she takes a step back looking both of them in the eyes.

Zayn and Mia stay in their place for a while, Heeseung and Emma right in front of them. Heeseung doesn't say a word, as the couple looks at each other, eventually slowly making their way out of the house, not uttering a word neither to Emma nor Heeseung. Emma stays frozen at her place, her arms crossed in front of her chest, as she tries her best not to cry, especially since Heeseung is right beside her. They both watch as Zayn and Mia disappears into the night. As soons as they are out of sight, Emma breaks down on her knees in front of Heeseung. "Hey hey" Heeseung says as he hugs her tightly, as Emma buries her face into his chest. "Shhh, it's ok. Everything is gonna be ok now. It's over. It's ok" he says as he tries to calm her down, as Emma lets herself fall apart into his arms. Her ears are ringing, her head feels heavy, the only thing she can hear is Heeseung's voice.

Everything is gonna be ok now.
