When All The Lights Go Out

Chapter 28

Jake is sitting on the big black leather couch in Heeseung's living room, holding a cup of coffee in his hands, as he watches Emma going up and down, cleaning the kitchen. "Do you need help with that?" he asks her, as she gives him a wide smile. "No, don't worry. I'll finish up soon, thanks" she says as Jake nods, noticing her big smile on her face. It's one of the few times he catches Emma smiling. When they first met, he remembers that she was really quiet, always moody and sometimes, he swears her eyes were red like she had been crying. Of course, being the gentleman he is, he never questioned her before, even tho he was dying to know more about her. Now that he finally knows, Jake feels relieved seeing her having her smile back, realizing that her life is starts going up again.

A few minutes pass by and Heeseung's figure appears from the stairs as he makes his way towards his friend. He wears some comfortable clothes and not his usual formal suits as he greets the two with a smile. "Good morning" Heeseung says, sitting next to Jake, his smile never living his face. Jake looks at him suspiciously. Heeseung never smiles that much. For as long as Jake knows him, the only other time he has caught Heeseung smiling like that, is when he gifted him a lego set for his birthday a couple of years ago. In any other occasion, he has never seen him smiling like that. "Good morning" Emma says as she locks eyes with Heeseung, feeling her cheecks growing red. Heeseung gives her a wide smile, his eyes never leaving hers as he takes a sit next to Jake. Jake looks at Emma then at Heeseung, as he waits for Emma to disappear into the kitchen. As soon as she is out of sight, he shakes Heeseung eagerly by his arm.

"What the hell happened between you too?" Jake whispers to his friend, wanting to learn all the details. Heeseung smiles at him, biting his lips, as he turns to look at Emma's direction to make sure she is not listening. He sees her distracted, doing the dishes and then turns to Jake, as he whispers. "Take a guess", he says as he goes back to his place, taking a sip from his coffee, his eyes looking straight into Jake's.  Jake stays silent for a few seconds, looking at his friend before he changes his expression,  covering his mouth with his hand in shock. "Did you guys-" Jake starts saying as Heeseung quickly nods. Jake tries to supress a scream coming from his mouth, as Heeseung laughs at his friend's reaction. "I am proud of you man, finally!" Jake says, hitting Heeseung lightly on the arm. Heeseung rolls his eyes playfully, as he continues chatting with his best friend.

Meanwhile, Emma stays in the kitchen as she finishes cleaning everything and takes a small break. She leans back on the counter, memories of the previous night coming back to her. Heeseung's touch all over her body, his voice whispering to her ears, the things he made her feel. Emma can feel herself smiling, her mind is full of Heeseung. His bambi eyes, his smile, his laugh, his voice, his lips. Everything about him is perfect. Emma feels her heart full again, that cold and abandoned place, was now replaced with warmth and light again after so long. Her mind goes back at the time when she was still living in the shelter, as she brings back that specific ad she had seen, that led her to Heeseung. She still feels thankful for that ad that came in her way back then, otherwise she would never had crossed paths with him. Emma smiles as the memories return, feeling happy and relieved about how things have turned out.

After some time, Jake decides to leave the couple. "It's almost 2, I better get going. I need to meet up with Sunghoon" Jake says as he gets up to leave. "It was nice having you here" Heeseung says as Emma appears from the kitchen to greet him. "Take care Jake" she says as Jakes smiles at her, waving at the two before leaving. Heeseung closes the door as he turns to Emma. His eyes lit up, looking at hers as he smiles sweetly. Heeseung makes his way to her as he hugs her tightly, kissing her head. Emma wraps her arms around him, Heeseung's warmth making her feel at ease.

"Emma" Heeseung says as she hums, her eyes closed. "Do you wanna go out with me tonight?" Heeseung says with a smile as Emma slowly breaks the hug, looking at him in the eyes. She smiles as she holds him by the face, giving him a small kiss on the lips. "Is this a yes?" Heeseung asks as Emma giggles. She gives Heeseung one last kiss on his lips, before releasing his grip gently, then she says with her sweetest tone.

"Yes Heeseung. I'll go out with you"
