Kobra and Y/K/N walked up the the area that their sister had been buried. It had been a year and a half since the miracle took place, well two miracles if you count Kobra coming back from the dead. The first miracle was, of course, that after all of this time the pair admitted their love for eachother. They only waited a few days before telling Ghoul and Party, but they had guessed that this confession would have happened sooner or later anyway. Then again, the most awkward members of the group and very much those that everyone considered their own younger siblings, of course it would have taken time.
It was obvious where the dirt had been shoveled back into place, though significantly less visible than when they initally buried the old team. It had found it's spot and that was where it would stay. I guess that's kind of a strange was to create a metaphor but the dirt did take time to find it's true place in this world just as Y/K/N did. Also like the dirt, Y/K/N's place in the world would always be vulnerable to change but they could finally say they were completely happy with where they were in that moment, even if that specific moment be at the grave of her psychopathic sister.
"She hated me." Y/K/N admitted. They felt okay with that fact, which they had been struggling to come to terms with since childhood. "When we were little, dad said he wanted us to grow up and form our own Killjoy groups. He never once said we had to be together, and I don't think he expected us to be." They didn't look up to Kobra. "We never should have been. Everything would have been so much easier if the last time we saw eachother was after buring dad." Kobra nodded. "I don't know why I didn't leave. She had her friends then even before dad died she knew people, I could have gone off and made my own group. I could have met you so much earlier."
He took a step forward, looking to face them. "But she was your sister, and no matter what she had done or what she thought, you still wanted to be there to protect her." They did look at him then, "That came out after one particularly rough day of torture." They nodded. Some things were still fuzzy, but it was usually only the little things. "Is there anything you don't know about me?" They smiled, Kobra shaking his head and grinning.
"I bet there isn't a single thing that you know about yourself that I don't know."
Y/K/N dropped a rose in the dry mud before beginning the walk back to trans am, quizzing him on everything they could think of. Jet was there, waiting for them. He volunteered to drive because he didn't want to be stuck alone with Ghoul and Poison, but he didn't go with them because he knew that was something the needed to do together, without anyone else.
They listened to Mad Gear on the was back to the diner, singing alone to 'Mastas of Ravenkroft' at the top of their lungs. When they parked, Jet and Kobra insisted they walk inside first, for some reason. Not even in a normal way, they were just insisting that they go first. Y/K/N did, but wasn't sure what to expect. It was weird, too weird even for these guys.
"Suprise!" They were greeted with shouts from the many people in the front room of the diner. They looked around, taking in everything as quickly as possible. "I told you I knew everything." Kobra put what was clearly a party hat made by The Girl on their head and then one on his own. Everyone was wearing their own personalised one.
She was the first to approach Y/K/N, holding her arms out and running in for a hug. Y/K/N picked her up as they wrapped their arms around her. 'Happy birthday' was said several times across the room. They never even realised that it was today.
"I know you said your dad put you off them as a kid, but surely you can manage one birthday." Kobra smiled as tears formed in their eyes.
"You guys are the fucking best."
