Repairs

There's a sudden rapid beeping that wakes up both Din and I. He tells me to go back to sleep while he deals with it. I nod and he leaves, leaving the door open. I grab the sleeping kid and snuggle him as I fall back asleep. What feels like moments later, the ship suddenly dips and rocks around. That's... Not good. I grab the kid, and use the Force to put the eggs in a safe place so it doesn't accidentally pop open.

It takes me a few tries to get up the ladder and into the cockpit, but when I do, I see a cloudy planet before us. "What the hell is going on!?" I demand, sitting down and bucking me and the kid into the open seat.

"New Republic assholes. I'll get arrested if they catch us. Hang on." Din tells me as he performs evasive maneuvers. A voice commands Din to stand down, but he keeps going. We get whipped around as he does another maneuver, then suddenly we're dropping backwards. Both Frog Lady and I scream in terror as we fall at high speeds. We straighten out as we come out of the clouds, heading for an icy canyon.

I reach out and take Frog Lady's hand, connecting with her to help her calm down. She's so frightened I can't get a clear thought from her. I tell her her eggs are safe, I made sure before coming up. That seems to help ground her as we duck and dive through the cannon. The voice from the comms calls out, asking us to not make them shoot us down.

"How about you leave us the fuck alone!?" I call out.

"Negative, you're the outlaws running from the law." The voice calls out.

"Oh suck my DI-" I'm cut off by my own scream as Din sharply turns, hitting an ice wall as he enters a cave. The cave is a tight squeeze, and he tells me and Frog Lady to hold on. I keep holding her hand while keeping the baby safe. We bump a little as we come out of the cave, sliding on a giant sheet of ice.

Din grunts as he tries to turn the Crest around, using the engines to slow down. We hit another wall, and I'm trying to not think of the damage done. At least I'll have work to do. We hear they lost sight of us, and Frog Lady gets up to check on her eggs. The ship suddenly dips, and I grab her hand again so she doesn't fall.

It rocks a few times, then falls through the ice, making Frog Lady and I scream as Din grunts from being jostled. We hit the ground hard, sending Frog Lady to the floor and Din's head into the console. I wait a few beats, not liking how still Din is. Frog Lady gets up, looking at me.

She speaks, and I feel she's asking if I'm ok. I tell her I am, then hand her the baby as I check on Din. He doesn't answer me as I call his name, so I get under his cape and beskar to feel for a pulse. I sigh in relief when I feel it, and realize he's just out for a bit. The cold starts to seep in, so I tell Frog Lady to stay here while I find her eggs and blankets.

She holds on to the kid as I exit the cockpit, running to my room first. Everything is thrown about, and I have to dig for my blanket. I give it to Frog Lady, wrapping her and the kid up before heading down for her eggs. When I drop down, there's a large hole letting snow cover the tossed around crates. "Fuck!" I exclaim, not seeing the eggs where I left them.

I move boxes and tarps, finding the container under a tarp. The crates somehow protected it during the tumble. I sigh in relief and call up that I found them. I leave them with her in the cockpit, telling her to stay with Din while I assess the damage. I find my cloak in my room and put it on, then head down.

I step out of the hole, and look at the ship. Oh yeah, she's fucked. I bite my lip as I think. With Din out cold, it's up to me to decide what to do. I see Frog Lady and the kid peaking out of the cockpit, wondering what to do now. I look around, seeing we're in a large cave. The hole we fell through is letting in snow.

My chest tightens, and my breathing gets heavy. I don't know what to do. If we stay here, we'll all die. Well, they'll die once while I die over and over. I drop to my knees, clutching my chest as my heart pounds, my ears ringing.
