Infiltration

We're in the forests of Morak, near a roadway the Imps use. Their trucks go through the exposed roots of a large tree. Mayfeld says he won't be long inside, so once he gets the coordinates, we have to get him the hell out of there. Boba says he'll grab him from the roof. Cara says she and Mayfeld will swap out as the truck drivers in the tunnel.

Mayfeld sarcastically says as much as he'd like a road trip with an ex Rebel dropper, it won't work. Apparently they have scanners that will trip alarms if anyone even remotely connected to the New Republic comes through.

Cara mentions he knows a lot about the Remnants and Mayfeld bites back that if she has something to say, just say it. Din tells them we don't have time for this and that Fennec will go. However, she's wanted by them and will trip the alarm too. Boba can't go because apparently they will recognize his face.

"Looks like I'm going in." I sigh.

"You have a bounty with the Remnants, remember?" Din says. Oh yeah, for Grizel.

"Not anymore. Karga and I cleared it with Mythrol's help." Cara says.

"How!?" I ask, looking at her in surprise.

"We have ways. Helps the New Republic is on our side." She says.

"Even so, she's not going in there alone with Mayfeld." Din says.

"What choice do we have?" I ask, giving him a tired expression.

"I'm coming too." He says. He scans another truck as Mayfeld says he's a fast talker, but not even he can justify a Mandalorian entering the base.

"So unless you're gonna take off that helmet, it's gonna be me and the girl. Or say goodbye to your little green friend." Mayfeld sighs. I glare at him, but Din says he's coming along, and not showing his face. Cara says she'll help us take over the next truck, and we make our way to the large tree. We hide in the roots as another truck pulls up.

Once it's almost inside the roots, we drop down on top of it. Due to how small the inside is, Cara goes in alone. After a few moments, the truck stops. We jump off the top of the truck and meet Cara at the front. There are three unconscious Imps, so we take their armor. Mayfeld will change at the truck while Din and I find a secluded spot to change.

There's an access corridor off the side of the tunnel. Not perfect, but better than changing in the open. I change first, my skin crawling from just looking like an Imp. I find a large bag that will hold both my clothes and Din's armor. Once I'm changed, I look to Din. "It stinks, and some parts are sticky." I whine. He shakes his head, then peaks around the door really quick.

When he comes back, he takes off his helmet and gives me a sweet kiss on the cheek. "It's just temporary. Once we have Moff Gideon's coordinates, we can burn this cheap armor. Deal?" He says, rubbing my arm. I nod and he steps away to change. I keep an eye out as he changes so Mayfeld doesn't sneak up.

I feel Din tap my shoulder, and can't help the small jump from just seeing a fully outfitted Imp so close to me. "Sorry, bad habits." I sigh. He touches our foreheads together to help calm me, then puts his beskar in the bag with my clothes. We step out and Mayfeld is taking the piss out of seeing us in the armor.

"Keep it up and you'll lose a body part." I grumble, then put the helmet on. As Din gives Cara our stuff, I make sure none of my hair is visible. Mayfeld reminds us we're on the clock and gotta go, so I hand over my saber to Cara.

"Don't worry, Mando's armor and your saber are safe with me." She assures me. I take a deep breath and nod. As we board the truck, Mayfeld laments about Cara not coming, his tone sarcastic.
