M E S S I A H

With the place of the last plate in the drainer my hand moved to retrieve the kitchen towel I had been using all night to dry my hands. The smell of the food I had prepared danced in the space of Grace's home, as I released the kitchen towel onto the counter once more before turning to face the island that held the plates of food I made.

My eyes then settled on Grace's sleeping figure on the couch. She had fallen asleep sometime while I was cooking after she had finished the tea I had made her. I didn't get a chance to ask if the pain had subsided but her immediate sleeping had me assuming that it did.

The sight of her getting some good rest for what seemed like the first time in a long while based on the exhaustion that sat on her face, had me hesitant to wake her. I mean a part of me just wanted to put the food in the microwave and leave a text on her phone for her to wake up to, but the other part sang the reality that she hadn't eaten since lunch, and that other part was right.

So with a walk over to the couch I removed the heating pad from her lower stomach, before performing a few gentle shakes of her body that had her eyes opening gradually to land on me.

"Hmm," She hummed with sleep still very present on her.

"The food is ready," I announced and she sighed with a close of her eyes for a few brief seconds before she sat up on the couch. I didn't make a move to say much else since by the look on her face-just her body language I could tell she liked silence when she woke up, and I was fine with that.

I made a move to turn off the heating pad before plugging it out as she stood sluggishly from the couch, and her slight pause with a hand on the couch had an unuttered confirmation being made. It was one that I had been going back and forth with all night but now it was clear that she was anemic, it was either that or she had a real heavy ass flow that made her lightheaded every time she stood.

I waited for her to regain herself before we began moving towards the kitchen in silence, a clean kitchen since I had already placed the food I had made in containers on the counter, which meant all the pots, plates and everything else that I had used was clean and returned to its rightful spot.

"I wanna eat on the couch," She murmured while wiping her eye with the back of her hand, and I smiled at the fact of how cute she looked, and also the amusement I gained from her somewhat lost and clueless demeanor.

"Okay," I said as I lifted my plate and glass while she did the same, which led to us taking a seat on the couch. I had removed my shoes earlier when she was asleep, no shoes in houses was a usual rule for me but it had completely slipped my mind until then.

My cautious nature was also put on a suppressor until she fell asleep, since once she did it had me wanting to check the house, but I didn't instead I locked the doors. I mean I wanted to trust her and it felt safe enough to do so, and from experience I have learned you gotta trust someone to find out if you can, so that's what I was doing, I was making the effort-

"Where is my salmon?" She asked, and the almost whiny voice she used had my head turning in her direction to find her gaze trained on food with a subtle pout.

Okay, that's lowkey cute as fuck.

"Your plate was kinda full, so I placed it on mine," I expressed with a point of my fork down to the extra piece of salmon on my plate. "You don't mind right?"

"No, I don't," She replied and I watched as she began eating with a gather of her rice and piece of her chicken onto her fork, before directing it to her mouth.

"So?"

"Hmm?" She hummed in a questioning manner while turning her head to look at me while she chewed.
