A sigh left me as I lifted my hand to perform a push of the door open to reveal the teacher's lounge to my tired eyes, up all night doing work, and I had been here all day doing the same.
"Long day already?" One of the teachers from the Maths department, Mr Mark, asked with an amused smile as I entered the room with a push of the door closed behind my exhaustion and frustration-carrying vessel.
"Yes," I replied as I walked over to the usual seat I took, when it was open that is. It was also where Denise was sitting unaware of my presence as she sat around the rectangular wooden table with her earphones in.
The seating of my vessel beside hers had her finally looking up to notice my presence, and the new addition to her reality had her pulling out her earphones to look at me.
"Where's your lunch?" She asked with a small frown, ignoring my most likely well visible tired state since it was the usual for her.
"I didn't bring any, I just came here for the break,"
"I've never seen a woman starve herself the way you do," She stated with an eye roll as she moved her hand down to her phone on the table to turn off the device.
"I'm not hungry either way, I'm just tired," I told her, earning myself another eye roll from her as she resumed the eating of the food before her.
"You gon fuck around and lose all them ass and tits the rest of us trying so hard to get," She half-joked and I smiled as I pressed my torso against the chair with a close of my eyes to get that rest I desperately craved for. "Imma leave some of what I got for you, and don't bother saying you don't want nothing,"
"Okay," I accepted, knowing better than to argue with her.
I really needed to start packing my lunch instead of leaving work to buy lunch because the truth was, the majority of the time I had no energy to actually go get anything. Then that led to me being even more exhausted since I couldn't really eat heavy in the mornings when I had work, so my breakfast consisted of less than the normal person had, which meant my body ran on practically nothing until I got home for dinner most days.
I need to get my shit together.
"Ms Conley?" I heard a voice call out, interrupting my moment of silence and rest, and I pushed back a sigh out of fear of the act coming off as disrespectful by whoever the person was while I opened my eyes with a turn of my head towards the voice. "Ms Conley?"
"Right here," Denise answered before my tired body could get my lips to cooperate, and the delivery man looked towards her before making strides in our direction.
His presence had a frown settling on my face as I dug through my mind in hopes of finding a memory that could explain what prompted his visit b—
"The lady at the front sent me here because I'm in need of your signature for a delivery," The man informed Denise with a turn of his tablet to face her.
I wonder if he has the wrong person.
"Oh no not me, her," Demise corrected him, as she paused the placing another forkful into her mouth.
"Oh sorry," The man said with a step towards me, and I turned my body to accommodate my hands for the act of signing.
"I don't remember ordering anything, are you sure you have the right person?" I asked him and he did a quick shift of the tablet to face him before turning it back in my direction.
"Yeah, Grace Conley, is that not you?"
"Yeah, it's me, I just don't remember ordering anything,"
"Maybe someone ordered it on your behalf, I don't have information on me but you can call the number on bag the food is in and ask, the order number on there too," He expressed as I wrote my signature, which had him shifting the delivery bag on his back in front of him to place the tablet inside before removing a paper bag and bouquet of flowers. "Thank you, and enjoy your day,"
