M E S S I A H

I sat in the comfort of my car as I continued to await Dantae's presence, and just before my patience could run thin, I saw his incoming figure, which had me moving to exit my vehicle to then close the door behind me.

The sight of me walking to meet him had me pausing his steps as I sent a cautious look around the busy streets. The sun from above shined down on my beautifully melanated skin, who screamed in gratitude at the warm embrace from its twin.

"M," He greeted with a joking edge and I quickly dabbed him up as I released a smile.

"What's so important I had to drive all the way over here?"

"I worked out sumn with one youth but he has to come down there to, you know, finish up the things dem way deh," He expressed, and I frowned already knowing where this was going, but I wasn't excited about it as I usually was. "And you gon need to come with him,"

"Aitte," I agreed while pushing back a sigh.

"Why you say it like that?"

"Like what?"

"Like yuh nuh wah come,"

"It's not that I don't wanna come, I just got a lot going on here right now," I told him since the procedure for me leaving the country usually meant at least a few days of going off grid before I left, and that meant everyone, even my mama and...Grace.

"Well you gotta pause what you got here, bring it with you or leave someone with it cause I nah do nothing with him if you not there," He told me seriously, and I knew how deep his words ran, D wasn't for everybody, especially not my brother, sometimes D wasn't even for me or Ky, but he was a part of our setup so this was the reality of things.

"Alright I'll sort it out, just let me know when so I can get shit sorted for when I leave,"

"Alright," He said with a tap against my shoulder. "Stay safe,"

"You too," I reciprocated, before turning to leave.

Shit.

How the fuck was I supposed to do this thing this time around?

The sound of ringing as I exited the bathroom had me speeding up my steps to arrive at my bedside table where the device laid, already knowing who was calling.

The sight of her name had me lifting the phone to answer the call as my assumption was confirmed. The sight of her in bed immediately appeared before me as I moved to get into my own bed.

"Hey," She greeted the second I was sitting in bed with my back pressed against my headboard.

"You look less tired than the last few days," I pointed out and she smiled.

"Because I am, I had less to do today," She voiced, and I snickered at the fact that she always seemed to speak like someone with a regular nine to five office job. "What?"

"Nothing, just a thought,"

"What kind of thought?"

"A thought I have to tell you in person," I told her vaguely since I knew she was very strict about what was mentioned and spoke about over the phone, or with any electronic device around if we're keeping it completely honest.

"Why don't I just come over so you can tell me?" She offered and I laughed at her words as she placed her tattooed arm that was left bare by black tank top she wore behind her durag covered head.
