M E S S I A H

I entered the space of the private room to find D standing by the mini bar located to the side with a drink in his hand, and at the sound of my arrival he turned to face me with a small frown on his face. Instead of speaking I simply pointed to the speaker a few steps away from him, and in an act of understanding he went to flick it on allowing the loud music of Nina Simone's Sinnerman to cascade throughout the space.

"I thought you were going to be by later,"

"Changed my mind," I told him as he began to move towards the couch with a nod, and I watched him move with a push of my right hand in my pocket. "What's this about?"

"Uhm, it's not the pit that's been good since I last checked it out. This about Crown," He expressed in code, referring to the eastside Don Prince, and I frowned while walking over to him.

"What about Crown?"

"He wanna see you at his club to talk sum business," He informed me as I paused my strides to stand before him with the coffee table sitting as a barrier between us.

"What about?"

"Ion know he ain't really say," D pointed out and I sighed with a look down at my black polished oxford dress shoes in deep thought, wondering what Prince could possibly want from me. I mean we weren't on bad terms but we weren't friends either, he was just someone whose hand I respected in this game we played.

"You think it's about that thing with Tyrone?" I questioned, thinking back to what I heard happened yesterday between Prince and the connect.

"About him cutting Tryone out as a middle and going straight to the connect for his shit?"

"Yeah," I confirmed as I rejoined my eyes to his.

"Probably," D agreed with a shrug of his shoulders. "You think Tryone pushing back on that shit and he need help?"

"Nah Crown ain't the type, I think he would more so be coming to for help to distribute it,"

"You right, you right," D spoke with a nod of his head and the cemented assumption had me sighing.

"He know I don't dibble in the hard stuff, that's your side of the business," I told D, and he nodded once again, this time in agreement.

"But it ain't like he asking you to hold it, you would just be helping to move it,"

"Still your side of the business," I expressed while also knowing that Prince jumped over D on purpose because he was known as an egotistical hothead, and Prince didn't like that.

"I can go if you want me to, I wouldn't mind the extra product and cash,"

"Nah nah, I got it," I told him, not trying to fuck up my business relationship with Prince by sending D, once again if he wanted him he wouldn've sent for him. I would just show up, hear him out and decline his offer respectfully. "I'll talk to him, and if it's needed I'll redirect him to you,"

"Okay," He agreed with a sip from his glass.

"That's it?"

"Yeah,"

"Alright, Imma head out because I got some business I need to take care of," I told him as I turned to walk away, knowing I had to meet Grace for dinner.

"Arlight, stay safe out there," He wished and I paused with a look behind me at him.

"You too," I wished before resuming my strides to exit the private area. One thing was clear, the board we played this game on was about to be rattled since messing with one player affected the entire flow, and the cutting of Tyrone out by Prince was gonna leave us all to bleed.

Even me, and I didn't even hold the hand that they held. I wasn't the one to make the move, but that didn't matter. There was going to be hell to pay to please the God that was death, but the Messiah is always bound to the promise of resurrection so my worry didn't travel too far.
