M E S S I A H
I shifted on the couch with a fold of my leg over the other so the ankle of my left laid against the knee of my right. The slow anticipating wait for the man who was the fuel of my annoyance and frustration created a sense of irritation in me, and with all those feelings a mixture was created to birth anger.
A face suddenly came into view, and at the sight of Peanut came him, Likum. I made a motion to the speaker off to the side, and Peanut didn't hesitate to turn it on which left Nina Simone's Sinnerman to play loudly around the room.
My anger pressed words at my lips but I made no move to part them to allow release because I knew better than to speak from such a place. So instead I sent a glance to D who sat on the arm of the chair furthest from me, a silent exchange took place in that brief look and it had him speaking the second Peanut exited the room.
"They tell you why you up here?" D asked him and Likum scratched his wrist which revealed it all before he even uttered a response.
"Yeah," He answered with his gaze on me even though I wasn't the one who asked.
"Why you ain't tell them mothefuckers the rules?" D asked, cutting all small talk and dramatic silence to get straight to the point, and I appreciated it since I wasn't in the mood to hear a motherfucker explain how his fuck up could make sense. Then again I was sure I was bound to hear some bullshit either way because nobody likes to dodge blame like the guilty motherfucker deserving of it, the same way nobody walks with more anger than an humiliated motherfucker.
"Because I ain't think them motherfuckers would ever make contact with you guys," He explained, looking at D while giving the most shamefully created excuse ever given to the point I felt utterly disrespected.
All this motherfucking time and his ego couldn't come up with a motherfucking lie to give me.
Usually I appreciated and respected honesty but this sad ass admission of the truth made it hard to.
"That ain't got nothing to do with nothing, I got one mind to beat the shit out of you for being stupid," I told him in my normal voice, no longer being able to restraint the words pressing against my lips, and it had his gaze that had been busy going back and forth between me and D, remaining on me. "The rules are the rules, don't lose the world over a spec of dirt you incompetent motherfucker,"
"I'm sorry," He voiced immediately and I released a breath of frustration, trying to get a hold onto my anger even though it wasn't quite easy when he kept saying shit to fuel it. All this cautious shit I do, and this motherfucker could've fucked everything. I had to pull a favor to make sure we weren't on no cops rader simply because of this motherfucker wanting to half ass his shit.
"Teach your men the rules, or we gon have to teach them ourselves and use you as an example of what happens when these rules get broken you understand me?" I spoke firmly and he nodded with another scratch of his wrist.
"Yeah."
"Now get the fuck out our face," D told him, and he immediately left and once he did I turned my head to D.
"Keep tabs on that, check in on that and make sure shit straight everybody down there in that pit gotta know what's up by the time I plan to roll back through there," I directed firmly and he nodded.
"I got you," He assured with a small nod this time around, and I sighed while standing to my feet.
"Imma head out," I announced and he hummed while transferring his body from the arm of the chair to the actual sitting area of the couch.
"You don't wanna stay for a drink or sumn?"
"No I'm good on that," I told him while watching as he leaned forward to grab his drink from off the coffee table in front of him.
