My strides away from the break room I was recently seated in, were fueled by the call for me to make my way to the office, which I assumed was so I could be updated on Keylen. The thought alone was enough for me to put a pause on the food I was eating to make my way up the hallway.

With a push of the door on my right I was greeted with the sight of the secretary and one of my few work friends, Ms Robinson.

"Hey, you called," I greeted with a warm smile and she hummed while shifting some papers on the circular cubicle she sat around.

"Yeah," She verbally confirmed as well, as she opened a drawer that seemed to hold what she was looking for cause her slight frown disappeared with the act. "It's about Keylen James in your class,"

"I assumed,"

"I know you did, that's why you came so fast," She expressed as she released the folder that was now in her hand on the spot on her desk in front of her.

"So what's home looking like?" I asked, knowing it was most likely the worst while hoping for the best as she opened the folder.

"Firstly not a home," She corrected with a glance up at me. "Mother on drugs, father seems abusive they suspected a heavy temper and saw bruises on the mother,"

"That bad?"

"Yeah, we found hardcore drugs everyone, mother is surely on crack, basically we got enough to have him removed from the household and put him in one of our group homes," She explained, removing her orbs from the folder to instead place it on me. "We are currently looking for family to accept guardianship, we have already explained the situation to him,"

"Okay, ke—"

"Keep you updated, I know you ain't gotta say it," She expressed with a warm smile that I returned.

"Thank you," I affirmed. "For everything,"

"You too," She stated, and with that I made my way back to the break room with a little less stress about his situation but more thoughts.

The sound of low trap soul skated throughout my vehicle as I continued to make my way to Grace's house with the moon above traveling with me. She had called me only earlier today and told me that she wanted me to come over and after comparing free time, we decided the best time to come over would be now.

I had no problem with that, usually I wasn't one to spend multiple nights at someone else's house, especially sleeping over, especially when it was someone I was dating, but here I was on the way to her home once again. On the way to her house with no one in the car with me for safety reasons, no one trailing behind, and that spoke a lot; a lot more than I first realized.

At first I thought it was just me being reckless because of feelings, but earlier today after her call, I had come to realize that maybe it was really fueled by the fact I wanted this to go somewhere, I thought about it at random moments. This drive over to her house had me dwelling on the fact even more to be acquainted with the drops of truth it held.

With previous women, I had no problem with someone tagging along for safety reasons, but with Grace I didn't want anyone knowing of her presence. For normal people the acts of importance usually switched, but for me it was just that.

I treated her how I treated the people that mattered to me.

I kept the shit I cared about the most hidden, what mattered the most to me was always hidden, just like the roots to a powerful tree, just like the heart in one's chest, the damage of what one holds the closest could always result in death. I knew that.
