summer was coming to an end. the weather was already changing. the hot sunny days were slowly becoming less hot and less sunny. the magic was wearing off. they all slowly began packing that morning. they were leaving causins and returning to the real world in less than two days.

susannah insisted that there was enough time to pack, hauling jeremiah and conrad to go outside and use the little time they had left in cousins to have fun. the boys didn't complain. katherine and laurel couldn't argue, so, they too let their kids off the hook form their packing duties.

all three of the boys were on the lawn, throwing a football in a circle. it was a usual sight, especially for conrad and jeremiah because they often did that with their dad when he would come around. the girls sat near the pool on the beach chairs. they talked while they watched the boys play. they were talking about taylor swift and her last album when piper expressed she was just dying to go have a swim at the beach. belly was immediately down, the girl loved to swim.

so, within five minutes, sadie was left alone by the pool to watch the boys play. she didn't mind. that might've been the first time that summer that she was left alone. a little peace and quiet didn't bother her.

sadie often wondered if she would ever grow sick and tired of causins. going to the same place every year with the same people could get tiering for an average person. but she hoped that would never be her. summers became the most valued part of her life. in one summer she can learn much more about herself and the world than she can during the rest of the year. cousins beach was a different dimension from the rest of the world, and that fact was proven to her time and time again. cousins beach was magical and she hoped nothing ever would change that.

her eyes lingered on jeremiah as she watched him catch the football. everything he did was so effortless. he was and would probably always be perfect in sadie's eyes. but she was biased though, she has had a raging crush on him since the ripple age of five. how could you not have a crush on jeremiah fisher? with his sky-blue eyes, dazzling smile and kind heart.

he was the light in every dark room. he was the sun on a cloudy day. he was the guiding light on a dark path. susannah wasn't wrong for calling him sunshine boy, because he was. jeremiah fisher was the sunniest and shiniest of sunshines.

"what are you doing here, all alone? where are pip and belly?" it was katherine who broke sadie's train of thought. the girl didn't answer, she didn't turn around, sadie didn't even acknowledge her mother's presence. her eyes stayed on jeremiah, she was trying her hardest to listen closer to hear his laugh.

"earth to sadie," the woman called. the crawford girl lifted her head, smiling at her mother as she watched her sit on a chair on her left. "where's piper?" katherine repeated her question. "she went to the beach with belly."

"oh honey, why didn't you go with them?" no mother wants to see their child sitting all alone. concern reached her gut, her thoughts immediately taking her to the worst places, something was wrong. sadie was hurting, maybe she wasn't feeling well, or maybe piper and her got into an argument. she didn't get an answer from her daughter. sadie's attention on her mother was long gone and focused on the boys.

relief washed over her, a knowing smile appearing on her lips once she caught who sadie was particularly looking at. "you still like him, don't you?"

"mom." the girl warned. talking to your mom about your crush wasn't cool, especially if your mom is best friends with your crush's mom. "oh, you do like him. it's written all over your face, you can't deny it." sadie groaned. taking a towel from next to her, she cowered her head. "god, is it that obvious?"

katherine chuckled, uncovering the towel from sadie's head she said, "he likes you, too. you know, he always liked you."
